honoring the OP for his brilliant solution $63, this solution is $320 at best

they dont show the tire on top, probably at L track level, too high
back to the OP solution
but think we found the ltracks are strong enough
Thats why I was suggesting someone make a bracket that hangs that divider a little lower than the l-track.would also probably need to be reinforced a little. Just enough lowering for the tonneau to clear the spare pushed all the way back towards the window.

I didn't find an L track pull spec, but it is held on by three or four M6 bolts. The lower bed wall D-ring limit is 707 pounds between any two points, those use a single M8 bolt each.

The force exerted can be arbitrarily high since the bottom ratchet strap can be arbitrarily tightened.
Although, knowing we are reasonable truck owners, the more likely cause for concern is the angle the strap is at (bed to tire). If we say 53" rail to rail, 35" tire, and that it's centered, then each side is 9 inches horizontally (ignoring roundness) and a vertical drop of V inches.
Say tire is 100 pounds, vertical load per strap section is 25 pounds (plus load from the top strap).
Forces are proportional to the dimensions,
tire weight : drop
Side load : horizontal gap
If the drop is 4 inches: Pull force (horizontally) per strap section is 25*9/4=56 pounds
Total pull per side is double that, so 112 pounds
At 3 inches of sag, it's 150 pounds
2: 225 pounds
1: 450 pounds

Main takeaway: be careful if you tension the straps, then put the tire on them.

If one is wanting the highest position possible, it might be a good idea to use a couple boards or a small sheet of plywood to span most of the gap and place the tire on that.
Yes. The problem is worse than that due to dynamic loading - when the truck transverses a dip in the road, the horizontal side loading gets multiplied. Doing this on a legacy body-on frame truck would pull the bed sides together. Not good. The Cybertruck has much stiffer bed sides but I still question whether the hardware can safely take that much side load, particularly when the dynamic forces are considered.

Just wanted to share another perk of having the bed cap 😊

I’m always jealous when I see that but those of you who have caps, isn’t it useful to still have the tonneau be operable?

I really wish they would have used the under bed box space for a spare. I like the box down there but I’d rather have the tire under there and just have a small tool box in the bed. Even if they left it empty, I would have bought the spare after the fact, just need the tire size space under there

Amen brother. Huge design miss in my opinion too.

That's an excellent idea. Do you use the ratchets to ratchet the tire up?
BTW
Arizona Peeps.... I have Spare-Tires/Wheels available for Emergency Spare. Message me if you're interested...
When out romp'n in the desert or trails in Sedona or traveling across the country it's nice to have that spare....when you need it.....
Great idea that I'm adapting for mine. Thanks!

I absolutely love it. Creative AF and incredibly logical.
I take it doesn’t fit on top of one of those bed divider platforms? Needs to be lower to clear tonneau?
Could probably build a little set of l track mounts that suspend said platform a little lower.

Correct! The shelves are too high for the vault to close. Plus, the shelf is just one more thing to have to take out when in need of the full bed.

Thanks, @kpanda17 - exactly why I skipped the shelf option as vault wouldn’t close with tire on top. Would def do the shelf if someone creates adapter to lower it though!

think the OP has it right
$63 is nothing to try it out and the shelf shows us the L-Tracks can handle even 58 lb tire bouncing, hanging in the bed

Love the idea. Fairly high tension rating components. My other concern would be the actual L-track rating, on the teeth themselves.
Yea, with as heavy as the tire is that would be my concern.

But not if you lowered the shelf a little. You could put a couple custom shaped bins on either side of the tire that fit on the shelf to maximize storage, maybe a water tank on one side and recovery gear container type thing on the other or something.
