Howdy friends!

When I first got my truck I also grabbed one of Hansshows video mirror mounts. It was the 8.9” one with the newer metal
Bracket.
It’s been…fine but the bracket seems to be coming lose and no amount of tightening down seems to be fixing it, as such it hangs a little lower than I’d like.

do you have any suggestions on a better unit? I’d like to have the mirror just sit a little higher and I know other folks have done installs of other models (like a wolf pro though how they got the power I haven’t discerned yet.)

looking for suggestions or advice on a better option or some suggestions on fixing my current one. Thank you!

Are you sure you didn't strip the screw hole it self? Or are you referring to the bracket coming lose from where it screws into the back of the mirror? If either mounting hole isn't stripped, I suggest taking it down, put a little loctite on the threads, tighten it down as good as you can get it and let it dry.
If youre looking for a new mirror, I have the Hansshow 11in one 2nd gen, however, be aware there is a flaw with their cable harness that knocks out the passenger side speakers that @Hansshow Technology has yet to address despite multiple attempts. It's a great mirror, but they need to fix that issue.

I checked and they didn’t appear stripped, and had a friend double check and he didn’t think so either so I’ll look into the loctite for now. Thank you! 🙏 I’ve heard of some issues with the 2nd gen so tha checks out, I’m sorry you’re having that issue if you are.

Why do you need a video rearview mirror? The screen has a very nice rear view camera that shows everything behind you perfectly. Had my truck since early Foundation release. I removed the wimpy little rear view mirror the first day snd never missed it for a second,

In my experience installing a rearview camera old fashioned mirror thing is a waste of money time and adds nothing to driving safety or even convenience.

You’re stuck in the past.

Now that I can stare at the screen using FSD without getting reprimanded by the system- Looking at the screens rearview camera is not a problem / and I can make the rearview take up the entire screen if I want.

Try driving using only the built in rearview camera image on the screen and it will become obvious that nothing else is needed….

Thanks Jeff, but I haven’t had the same experience here in the PnW between the rain constantly blocking the view of the camera, and then drying and making it dirty and needing constant cleaning, and the somewhat pixelated picture I’ve found a better solution. I’m glad you’re happy with your experience though!

Never had a problem with the onboard camera in rain or at night. I understand kind of unnerving not to have that typical rear view mirror up there to look at

I am sorry, I just don’t get it. The rear view camera view on factory display seems to be good enough, in fact I turn off the rear camera view 99% of the time. If I do look to rear while driving I use side mirrors. cant justify $500 for add-on cameras.

I appreciate that - I’ll throw it back up and practice with it, but another reason I found benefit from the camera was mounting it above the vault allowed me to see over our bike rack when we go camping, which has also been helpful. Since it isn’t installed now I’ll at least enjoy them both then. :)

If you decide to use Loctite , use the blue not the red..........just in case you need to ever adjust it again

Anyone know if there is a rearview mirror that doesn’t replace the current rearview mirror feed? Basically just need to power and would be in addition to default set up?

The semi-permanent loctite should do the trick, unless you never plan on removing it you can go w the permanent.
