Good morning everyone! Here's my current dilemma.

I placed a factory order on 12/17/25 for an AWD CT when the lease term being advertised was $729/month. I was fully prepared to take delivery during this original incentive period but there was no local inventory anywhere in the state therefore requiring me to place a factory order.

As a result, the lease payment has now increased $120 per month ($4,320 over 36 months), which was outside of my control.

The vehicle has now arrived at my local service center and I can schedule delivery as early as this upcoming Monday. However, I'm being told the lease price has increased and I'm not eligible for the price advertised when I placed my order.

Is this fair?

Everything was signed and you were just waiting for delivery?
Yes. They are telling me that in order to quality for the $729 lease promotion I would have had to take delivery by 12/31. Problem is, there was no inventory and my specific CT was being built.

On the surface, that seems incredibly unfair.

To start I’d look at whatever it is you signed and what that says.

But in your shoes, I would do anything in my power to will the $729 into existence.

Are you able to walk away without any kind of penalty such as losing your deposit?

My options are as follows:

1. Accept current lease terms.
2. Walk-away and lose order deposit ($250).
3. Place my order on-hold for 14 days. This will release my VIN to anyone else that is currently waiting for a CT. After 14 days Tesla will attempt to pair me with another CT. Essentially removing from me the current queue and later adding me back in.

You’re in the right to request your contract price, but expect to walk away… I’d speak to someone up the chain if you haven’t. Obviously 250 isn’t really litigable

Yeah, the $250 is trivial and at worst I can walk away with little to no worries. I just find the practice overall of them not honoring the price advertised when I placed the order to be a bit misleading and messed up. I'm a current Tesla owner and have been for quite some time. At the end, I made the good faith effort to purchase and placed a factory order.

I was looking at another thread that another member in the Miami area ordered their CT about a week after me and was paired to a local CT prior to the end of the year. I'm assuming the reason I wasn't paired was due to my configuration. I ordered mine with Cyber wheels and white interior.

When I went through the process, I was told it was only for CTs in inventory. I found one that required me to fly and drive before December 31. However, my brother got the same stick as you. If he wants it now, he needs to pay the new price.

It's rather unfortunate. When I placed my order, there was 0 AWD anywhere within the deliverable area. I found a few out of state but were ineligible for purchase as I'm in Florida and certain states require you to purchase and register in their state, at least through Tesla that is.

Here's my personal take: While I understand there was and still is a supply constraint for CT's, I don't believe the customer should be ineligible for this specific lease offer, especially with less than 30 days of it ending. In good faith, I placed a factory order in hope to receive the vehicle before 12/31 which I didn't. At no point did I receive a phone call nor was offered a similar model CT (regular wheels and or interior). I simply waited, patiently. Now, their response is $849, take it or leave it.

Were you misled or did you just hope it would work out? These promotions have pretty clear end dates and ordering from the factory 2 weeks before is a hail mary at best. It sounds like you knew there was no inventory available and your only real chance was a truck getting freed up somewhere else.

If they told you it would work out, then I'd insist on my order fee back.

To be honest, a bit of both. When I ordered, I did not see anything about a deadline until after when I received an automated message via the app about a week later. When placing my order, I looked at the numbers which I accepted and proceeding with place the order. At the very least, I would have expected for the numbers to remain the same since my order was placed with those numbers being advertised. I feel as if they need to make it a bit more obvious on the main ordering screen without having to click or expand menus to see fine print.

If you agreed to a price with the terms of must take delivery date by Dec 31, then you have no recourse. That was the contract. Even if it was impossible because there was no inventory. That means other buyers beat you to the given inventory. Tesla is fully in its right to do this. I get it, sucks for you they won’t honor it now, but that was the terms stated. If you’re willing to wait I am sure there will be similar promotions come end of March. Tesla tends to try and push to sell more vehicles before the end of the quarter…. But no guarantees they will.

I agreed to the $729/month offering along with its terms. ($5,000 down payment + the other accompanying fees like first month payment, tax etc). This is what was being offered for new / inventory orders. It is what was shown all throughout my ordering process. I understand what you're saying, I'm not contesting the legality nor demanding anything from them. I'm simply pointing out the way they advertise at times is misleading. I was unaware of the end of year deadline up until I received an automated message via the Tesla app 1 week after ordering asking me to explore inventory options prior to 12/31 (none available) in order to qualify for the lease promotion.

Me? I would cancel my order, lose $250, and wait for another Cybertruck incentive to come down the pike.

Next month is historically a slow new sales month for dealerships across the country.
