Rear tires wear out super fast on AWD Cybertruck, could it be FSD?

Not keeping the rear tires pumped up nice and stiff - is a problem. Rear wheel steering is scrubbing the tread back and forth and if under-inflated- the tires will wear more quickly than without rear wheel steering.

they got a little low pressure when I hit cold environment. Down to 45. Drove maybe 100 miles like that and they warmed up to 47. Then I inflated them all and didn’t notice they were low. The next 1000 miles or so seemed to do the real stripping of the rear. Very weird.

Yes. On the CT it was the factory tires , then 2 sets for KM3s. The KM3s also cup badly before going “bald”.

On the m3P , the original Perelli’s, now 5 sets of Michelin pilot sport 4s.

40 psi for both vehicles
CUPPING seems like the culprit. Bad tire balance from factory or defective tire. I had the same issue with my sport bike. Would have vibrations over 75 mph, which was weird. When I rolled into my garage, the dust on the floor should cupping around the tire. If it was over worn, it would be worn in a band around the tire uniformly. my 2 cents. Should not be a problem with a good set of tires, balanced & aligned.

very interesting. I’ve never heard of cupping. Do you know of some “cupping for idiots” resource to describe it?

Thanks so much for your analysis.

FYI, I re-balance the tires when I rotate every 10k on my CB & M3LR.

My understanding is that the beast is from heel drive biased so I guess it might be more likely to happen to your fronts if it ever does.

This is normal for me on my CT and m3P. 10k miles in my normal tire change interval, even with rotating at 3k . Yes the guy is probably driving aggressively like me
As someone who has owned 5 Teslas. This isn't normal. I get 50-60k miles on my tires and had a MY that had 80k.

Was there an elevation change during your trip?

Your tire reported tires pressure is pretty low. Being anywhere near 45 on the CT for an extended trip could have stressed the tire, this is a vehicle that you probably don’t want increased rolling resistance with. Have you gotten alignment etc completed?

Yes a big one as we went into Tahoe. No alignment. The “techs” said since the wear was even they just replaced the tires. I wish they would have. As I was in the middle of a road trip I didn’t have the luxury of my normal ocd dealing with the issue. That said, we did about 1500 miles getting home and so far, the tires look ok.

MAD MAX setting :devilish::devilish::devilish:
Ron M. that just looks weird. Is the board hard to Gybe? I've not windsurfed in about 4 years and I think my old windsurfing buddies are now doing that foiling thing or what ever it's called. I bet it's fast and quiet too.
