Now there’s an expensive rabbit hole. The wheels I mean, not the girl.
Eh…both actually.
Facts lol....Between the wheels and the woman I am just trying to keep the truck clean, the mods paid for, and the relationship intact 😅

Here ya go!
OK I almost hate to say it, but this really isn't any better. They have simply added additional color LEDs to the light strip and kept the factory white ones intact. Instead of getting a light bar that is OFF and then lights up only those sections programmed to light up you get a solid red light bar with the white lights coming on over the top of it. It would be MUCH cooler if what came on was red instead of white and would only light up what was programmed to light up.

Unless the factory light bar is white LED only then it should be a matter of reprogramming to get the factory lights to show up in different colors. Someone needs to ask an engineer from the Cybertruck team... ;)

I hear you, that would be pretty awesome , you can just do your own animations just using the color leds this is just showing the light show staying intact. If I ever get a Tesla engineer in front of me I definitely have a whole list of other ideas for them too lol.

So I reached out to cyberglow around Black Friday to see if I could get one of these bars to install on bandit and was able to secure a pretty good deal in comparison to SW lights and Boring that is, I paid full advertised price at the time which on special was a way better than either of the two competitors, plus shipping which for those of you that are curious is about $100.
They said I could keep my lightbar and that they hoped I would share my experience here on the forum but only if I wanted to which I thought was pretty nice. I do want to.

Executive summary, good product, visually spectacular compared to almost any other exterior mod but has quirks and overall experience could use some work to be ready for prime time.
The DRl arrived a couple of days ago and I installed it today. Which was actually pretty simple.

The packaging was very nicely done and it felt very secure when it arrived in just about the largest box that’s ever been shipped to my house.

as you can see the silicon appears far from pretty but pretty thorough and the plug setup is essentially indistinguishable from OEM.
Without skirting dangerously close to a review, I love this thing but it has some issues you ought to be aware of before spending your money and I also have some advice for cyberglow.
The device came with absolutely nothing in the way of documentation. Not even a QR code for downloading an app.
I knew from reading it worked with the blueghozt thingy so I downloaded the app and it ultimately worked itself out but I’m gonna be honest here, not every customer would know to do that and that app sucks if you’re new to it even though it sounds like it’s kind of the standard in this industry. Website may contain the info but I did look and couldn’t really find anything logically laid out.
If you’re expecting an Apple Store type experience because of all the language about plug and play, think again.
the FAQ on the cyberglow website is not helpful and basically answers ridiculous fabricated questions that sound like “why is your product SO awesome and SO much better than the competitors?” Or “will you be on the hook for refunding me if I’m not happy with the product?”-short answer to which is no. I believe it’s phrased as the frequently asked “are all sales final?”
Cyberglow, I’m very happy with the product but for this kind of money people are going to be expecting more. A manual, a QR code, a little more care with the silicon bead for professional appearance, a couple of install videos made not by a YouTube reviewer and …more on this in a second, better integration with oem functionality if you’re going to market yourself as the custom DRL that doesn’t mess with your oem setup. I guess that part true, it doesn’t mess with the OEM setup but it doesn’t seem to integrate with it very well.
The device comes with a remote control that has an on/off button on it only and once it’s powered on can be paired with the blueghozt app which does make it very customizable.
Basically it has three states. On by itself, on with the oem white light or off.
the same setting in states A and B look quite different because of competing with the white light so much more subtle when the car is on.

the system powers off the car’s aux power because it stays on when “keep aux power on” is enabled and powers off with walkway door locks when disabled (which is the first shortcoming here) and it also resets every time it’s tuned off.
So if like me you were looking for basically an electronic wrap where you modify the appearance of your DRL and then it continues to behave just like your drl but colored, that’s not what you’re getting.
Say you have a cool scheme you selected while the car was off and then you get in the car and depress the brake pedal to turn it on, the light goes back to plain white for driving and you have to re-enable it to see a more subtle whitewashed version of what you were previously seeing while the car was off.
That said…it looks SO cool it’s worth the headache.
I’ll aknowledge here that I’ve had this thing for only several hours and it may be user error happening but at first blush…yes it retains factory functionality of everything but NO it’s not plug and play in the way you might think.
My advice to cyberglow, amazing product. 90% thought through. Focus on the user experience and package it like something you get from the Tesla shop or Apple and you will crush the competitors because your price is already better and installation simpler than some of the other competitors.
post a tutorial (maybe you have one that I just missed) with a walkthrough of the blueghozt app and what it’s capable of with a quick start guide and if possible address the whole “system resets itself when turned off” or “system stays on after you walk away form the car” issue.
In my opinion, if you do these things the market is all yours.
my only problem now is I want you to put that strip in my beast bar too but I spent so long getting it to stick I’m afraid to remove it for that purpose.
Thank you for the cool product. What I wanted out of this product is rainbow road on the outside of the car and you gave it to me. Maybe I’m being a little picky because what you’re selling is quite awesome but it’s just a couple of steps short of perfection.

Disclaimer: wrote this up after installing on Sunday night and have not contacted cyberglow yet. I will try get a hold of them Monday to see if they can fix the resetting behavior somehow.

@hemiarch excellent write up. Does the app have a visual of what the DRL is doing in real time? I assume you can’t really see it when you’re driving around.

Thank you. It does not. Best I got was pulling up behind a really shiny car and looking for a reflection.

That’s too bad. I would definitely want that feature in the app. Can it make the entire bar look like a giant strip of bacon? @That Beast Mode would buy that in a heart beat.

So just to help explain a little more.
Right now my car looks like this while off. If I press the pedal to start it, the light goes white and I can restart the device but then I get the more subtle version of the color with the white background.
If I turn off, keep aux power on, it turns off. If I hit off on the remote it turns off.

Do you know yet if that could potentially get software updates as they make changes?

So @hemiarch you're avoiding serious questions here... He asked you if you can make it into a giant strip of Bacon and I think all of us would like to know the answer? In all seriousness, this looks awesome and I'd consider getting one, but at that price I agree - those issues you brought up need to be addressed.

Maybe someone with more experience than me can chime it, but it sounds like the system doesn't have any memory or battery backup. I have color changing lights on my motorcycle that use a remote and app too and if I pick a pattern and color it stays that way every time it turns on or off unless I physically change it. I'd assume it can be done here too but it might need to be configured. @mongo is usually good with this kinda stuff, maybe he can chime in.

Sounds about right. No internal non-volatile storage to save the mode.
Technically, that could roughly be done from the app side (resend on restoration of comms).

Hey hemiarch really appreciate you taking the time to write this up and share it with the forum. 🙏

A couple quick notes and some context

On documentation and onboarding

We do send an install email right after the order is placed with pairing and basic guidance, but you’re 100% right that not everyone will see it at the right time or even find it again once the box shows up. We’re going to start including an in box QR code quick start card that points to install steps, app download and pairing, and a short first 5 minutes walkthrough. That should make the experience way more Tesla and Apple friendly.

On the silicone and RTV appearance
Totally fair callout. We want it to look cleaner too. The tricky part is that getting inside these bars is an extensive process and we design our sealing process to prioritize function first, meaning waterproofing and longevity. That said, we’re actively tightening our process so it looks more professional while keeping the seal integrity.

On the power and reset behavior V1 vs V2

You’re picking up on something real. Our V1 stayed on, but in practice Sentry Mode and Tesla power behavior could cause it to stay powered way longer than customers actually wanted, and we heard that feedback a lot. That’s one of the big reasons V2 includes the remote, so users can intentionally control when the system is enabled or disabled instead of it staying on unexpectedly.

Also worth noting, if you enable Camp Mode or keep Climate On, the vehicle stays powered and the bar will not shut off the same way it does when the car powers down normally.

None of this is meant to dismiss your feedback. It’s helpful, and we’re already making changes based on it, starting with the QR quick start and better onboarding content.

Thanks again and rainbow road on the outside of the car is exactly the vibe we’re going for. 🔥

Thank you Michael. Kind of getting used to the always on vibe after a day or so.
In the daytime it looks kind of interesting with the prism hex film I have on the beast bar. much more subtle when driving because the white is on behind it. Kind of what you want for minimizing pull over risk anyway. Will probably mount your switch right by the auxbeam. I’ve found also that since that since it’s related to the “keep aux power on” feature it can be turned off remotely by putting the car in low power mode through the app. You can’t turn it back on, but you can turn it off that way. After that, if you still want cabin overheat and sentry and that sort of thing , you just turn it back out of low power mode
