On FSD 14.2.2 - I didn't see anything coming but my rear seat passenger did at the last second and went 'oh!'

A bit of plastic broke, some clips lost, and a small dent in the rear panel.

Agreed. We get about 20-30 through our yard every day and this wasn’t far from home.

It was loud but didn’t even feel the impact

Venison for Christmas dinner?

Merry Christmas!
We turned around to grab the fender and look for the deer but it ran off immediately after the hit and the surrounding area - though it has a few buildings - is completely surrounded by thousands of acres of trees and fields. Finding it in the dark would have taken hours - if possible at all.
So I'll just have to make due with the venison already in the fridge ;)

You’re right. It’s not. But nothing’s candy can change that unfortunately. Humor is a coping strategy for sadness though.

In all fairness, the deer did hit the truck and not the other way around. So if you ask me, he's responsible for damages. Besides OP said the deer ran off, so maybe he's back in the woods telling all the female deer how he attacked the big silver dragon to make himself look cool.

First off. I am sorry you had to go through this. Best of luck getting the repairs and that done. Hope the deer is OK but that was quite a hit. Thank you for sharing your experience on the video.
I asked Grok if it was a California cyber truck owner who would be responsible for the damages and what would they label it as. This is what the Groc machine said.

Short answer: In California, if a deer runs into your Cybertruck (or any vehicle) causing damage — even if you didn’t hit the deer — it’s typically covered under comprehensive coverage (not collision), as animal collisions are treated as unavoidable, non-fault events. You’ll pay your comprehensive deductible, and it generally won’t raise your rates significantly (or at all in CA for not-at-fault claims). The claim is labeled a comprehensive claim for animal damage. Confirm with your insurer, as you need comprehensive coverage on your policy for this to apply.
I’m not here to give any illegal advice. I was just looking up what the machine said.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays and happy new year to you and your family
