That's not even the issue this recall is for. Yours didn't de-laminate, the nut that holds the backing on at the front came loose. That's supposed to be secured with thread lock.
Great point. I did not think of that.

The nut is gone, but it does look like thread lock was applied to the screw-- there is a bit of grey residue.

I just got the Tesla mail regarding the recall but mine are on pretty well and I'm just a little hesitant to have them touched. Anyone else in same boat?

Definitely recommend waiting. I had mine done since originals were slightly misaligned...new ones are significantly worse. Don't do it, unless you absolutely have to. My two cents.

I’ll follow up. I go back in. Tech put a few on mine. I was having the alignment / fitment issue and a bit of waves / bends along the windshield.
Seemed like maybe the adhesive was thick or thin in spots causing it. I’d encourage anyone to ask for help from the SC if it happens so it’s right. I have a foundation so fender brackets posed some added fun.

Being in Florida, where the weather never gets really cold, and which seems to be the root cause of the adhesive failure, I'm holding off. (NARRATOR: FLORIDA THEN EXPERIENCED ARCTIC TEMPERATURES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY)

Actually, that would not be the first time I was here in 1977 when it snowed

Ordered parts that include installation (but I just want the parts) and Tesla automatically added cantail replacement to the estimate. Fortunately, I was able to take the line item off. Not a fan of people touching my cars if the cars don’t need the work. I’ll wait until it becomes a problem.

Side note, found it interesting they added ‘Clean Forward Camera View (Precision Cleaning of Inboard Glass)’ to the estimate even though I didn’t ask for it.

Took that line item off too cause this service center f*%#d up one of my 3s, so I’m not letting them touch my CT.

I too, wasn't worried about the cantrail coming off the truck because It seemed fine anytime I checked it However, one night while driving up the New York State Thruway in Suffern, the cantrail started to detach from the truck at the driver's door jamb. So I pulled over and thank God I had a piece of rope with me to tie the part back so I can make it safely home.
Luckily, the next morning I called my local Tesla dealer and they said if I can safely get the vehicle to the shop, they would gladly take me in right away and fix the problem and they did. So again, I felt the same way that a lot of you have mentioned that if it's not broke, don't fix it. Well, just think about this if that big piece detached itself from the truck and hit somebody else on the road.
The inboard glass area is a very important part of the cyber truck. That's where most of your sensors are and I don't think that we have access to that area. If you notice that periodically, you have to clean the inside of the windshield that area that we don't have access to, needs to be cleaned also. And if you notice on your bill or estimate, there's no charge.

Mine is fine. The SC said it's optional and they don't recommend it unless it's getting loose.
If someone at the SC said that they don't recommend you getting it fixed and yet there's a recall? You might want to rethink this.
The Cantrail Can come loose at any time I was like you and many others who would say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I even would check mine and see that they were on tight so I wasn't worried.
Well, let me tell you about my experience with it. Recently, one night coming home from work while driving up the New York State Thruway in Suffern,, New York. The Cantrail started to detach at the lower front driver's door area and started to peel back flailing in the wind. So I pulled over in the darkness and luckily I had a rope (as a great Ironworker always has😁) and tied the piece off to the frunk hinge. I made it home safely, then contacted the Tesla SC the next morning and they said if I can safely get the vehicle to them, they would take it in right away and make the proper repairs and they did just that.
Think about this, if that giant boomerang piece detached completely from the truck and hit someone...
Just another thought, put the responsibility on Tesla and not yourself

Definitely recommend doing it now. I had mine done since the originals were fine but prone to fail at an inopportune time. The new ones are perfectly aligned. Do it unless you just absolutley would rather have them come appart on your way somewhere. Carry Duct Tape with you.

Did the design change? Mine is foundation as well, but I was not aware of any differences.
So the back plate on the fender was almost restricting mine from getting flush. Tech had to drill it out.

new ones are welded studs to the stainless then the 8mm bolt. So possible some iteration has occurred since VIN 17XXX

Which service department did you go to? I ask because I was recently at the Anaheim location and saw a CT with the recall "fix" performed and the results were god awful. One side with a nasty gap, and the other with edge sticking out instead of being flush to the body. So apprehensive about getting it done and worrying the job will not be done correctly.
