We picked up our new 2025 CT yesterday, purchased from "Inventory" that was in transit to get a year of premium connectivity and Supercharging free. This will be replacing my 2009 BMW 335i (E92, AKA coupe), since house ownership and a family will do that to ya.

Test drove twice before committing. Knew that air ride and rear steer were amazing features since our X7 has them as well (toned down versions compared to the CT). It's our first pickup and first EV, but it just checks all the boxes weirdly enough.

Only problem I noticed is that the steering wheel makes a click when passing 10 or so degrees past center. Sounds like plastic trim or flash that's snagging. If anyone has insight, please comment to save me the SC visit.

This forum has been very useful for finding info not listed elsewhere. I'm a mechanical engineer and work at a self driving car company, so I hope I can contribute in the future. Though part of the reason we went EV was to avoid most of the maintenance involved with keeping high performing vehicles running right.

Cheers!

Whoops, duplicate post. This one can be deleted by admins since the other one has a picture. Can't figure out how to delete right now

Yeah, it can definitely be tight. I make it work though and at least my neighbor is nice :)

Pic from recent front/rear diff, transfer case, and engine oil service. Damn Krauts are letting quality slip. A $8-12K replacement for just a transfer case makes a battery pack swap look cheap (and much less likely).

It's nice that the CT is light enough my QuickJacks can lift it when winter wheel season comes. Initially looked at Lightning and Silverado EV, but the GM stuff is obese and the lighting is old tech. CT is definitely bleeding edge tech. Truly appreciated it after watching all of the Monroe teardown vids. As an engineer, I can appreciate the beauty underneath.

Congrats, she's a beauty!

A number of people have reported the steering wheel click. I think it's just a matter of loosening the steering column shroud and retightening it slid all the way forward or back, can't remember which. If it's like what others have experienced, it's just positioned a little wrong.

Props to you for not relying solely on the quick lifts. I see those jack stands being used after the lift.

Congrats on the CT.

Yup! I haven't always done this, since the QuickJacks do come with a steel locking arm with two set positions. However, I had to improvise and extend the reach of the lifts to reach the lift points on the X7. So once I lift it, I place the jacks directly under the lift points and lower the whole assembly onto those stands. A little iffy looking, but a quick beam bending calc shows I should have around 3-4 Factor of Safety (aka 3-4 times the strength needed to not have a failure).

The non-homogeneous nature of natural materials, unknown creep and fatigue effects, and general enthusiasm for living means that I do double up on safety. Once the load the jacks are in place directly under the lifting points it's a straight load path through the beam. No long term shear/bending loads.

Extend the wheel out all the way and see if you can see anything making that noise. Otherwise, make an SC appointment.

Welcome to the owners club, enjoy your CT man.

Took my parents for a drive today and showed them FSD. Even before going for a ride, they went from haters to "looks much cooler in person!". After the tech showcase, they were converts and admitted they were wrong to judge it :ROFLMAO:

I cannot believe how many people are blown away when the vault tambour opens up: "whoah, it's a real truck bed". Like FFS guys, yes it's truck! Then I show them the rear steer and it's visible confusion.

Funniest thing so far: driving with my wife and 1 year old in the back, going through the neighborhood I lived in as a refugee. 5 boys run up and signal for me to slow down. I roll down the window, fist thing the one kid says is "can I have 5 dollars?". I'm like "I'm not made of money!", to which another says "so can I have just a dollar?". Another kid peeks inside and says "man it's so cool". Love those reactions because I see myself in them, rolling down my parents back windows to lean our the window and tell someone "nice car!".

I really don’t understand it. Why the hell do people think it’s called a “truck?” It just irritates me so much.

Congratulations!

Had the same steering wheel trip rub with mine shortly after delivery. Service was able to fix it quickly as I prefer not messing with the steering column myself.
