I installed a set of the China-made running boards that you see on several sites. I posted a review on YouTube. The running boards have started to rust after a month of rain. Watch before you buy!

Do you show the rust? I didn't want to watch the entire video to find the rust.

I installed these side steps from t-sport line and very happy with them

They are fairly subtle and provide a nice place for my young kids to step. Not sure how much actual protection they offer but they are definitely very solid and well made.
I did put strips of xpel armor on them which was both cheap and easy to do since the finish isn’t quite as durable as the marketing material would have you believe.
That said, I’ve had them on and abused them for several months and no signs of rust but I do also live in the southwest.

I have these on mine too. They were an easy install and they look great. I see no wear and tear and I drive on gravel a LOT. They stick out just enough to block sand/gravel/rocks from flying up off the front tires and hitting the rear fenders.

Pretty sure once you go through the carbon steel powder coat by tightening at each contact point. Plus the rock hits one is going to get rust.

No, just discovered the rust. I'll take a pic and post it.
It is rusting inside the bracket that is tack welded to the running board. I'm in CA and we've had rain, but not as much as other states.

It's rusting in a spot where that is away from any rocks or bolts.

Are the brackets holding water?

They are tack welded in four places, so not a tight fit. They may hold some water if the truck is just sitting.

That would accelerate the rust, especially if there was saltwater or salt on the roads present, but disappointing in that short amount of time.
