Hi everyone,

I'm heading into my second snow season with the CT and have found that snow frequently blocks the headlights.

Besides standard options like not driving in night snow, frequent pull-overs or installing a complex heating system, has anyone found a novel way to prevent this snow build-up?

I have an idea for a potential solution: If a block of acrylic, PMMA, or Lexan were machined to fill the gap between the frunk lid and the headlights, do you think this would allow snow to blow off and prevent accumulation?

Does anyone work with these materials and have the capability to prototype this part? If not, could someone produce a CAD file for the part for me? I would be happy to try it out and get a set to anyone who helps.

Thanks

Like the idea, may result in less snow pack. May need a heating element on top of the bumper though as snow would still stack up there.

I also like how the first 2 responses are from AZ boys lol
Hey..all policy making related to the lives of poor people is done by rich people. Nobody seems to mind that.
clearly, as people with lots of sunshine we still feel entitled to comment.

I used to think “rich” were smart as they earned their money(and they still do), now in today’s day of influencers and the internets…

Oh please. That’s a small percentage but no doubt people deserving of respect.
Most inherit or chance into enough financial momentum that all they need to do is not lose or spend it. Not the same challenge at all.

You guys really know how to waste a thread. I'm obviously referring to a moving vehicle vigorously collecting snow, not a parked one colleting snow at the rate of a "moderate snowfall". Now, back to your prolific babbling.

Lol sunshine state. This heated mat you suggested melts 2" of snow per hour.
My response is satirical, I do have to say this mat use case is generally not for vehicles obviously. I’m sure there is a better solution. GL to you lol

Damn it Ace you got the internet mad at me.

Fine, then there's this - it definitely does more than 2" per hour.

Tesla Cybertruck Would this solve snow blocking headlights? boring

In all seriousness, since you don't appreciate our babbling. How about a piece of clear PPF that you attach on the ends so it sort of seals that gap so snow doesn't get in there to begin with?

Mechanically, that would be similar to machining a block of acrylic to fill the gap. I've never worked with PPF, is this a serious suggestion?
