With battery tech advancing so rapidly and improved composition it seems very plausible.
I think that's the issue. Battery tech is not advancing quickly. It's super slow. Outside of "in the next 5 years....Solid State...etc." we have seen for the last 10 years, battery tech isn't much different than it was 10 years ago. Sure there have been small improvements and we've seen those, longevity, charging curve, energy density, etc., but they have been small.

I'll trade you my 2026 Model Y with 1,300 miles and turn signal stalks for your stalk-less Cybertruck.
HAHA! Well, I can live with it but would prefer them. 18 months in and only 6000 miles. How is the Model Y?

Model Y is good, but it has half the miles of my Cybertruck, and only trailed by one month coming to my home. The adaptive headlights are a marvel.

Tonight at a Home Depot parking lot, I watch another 2026 Model Y do a very impressive summon. It backed out of parking space, 90* turn at end of row, negotiated a stop sign at the front of the store, then proceeded a short distance before parking appropriately at the garden center area for the owner to load it up. Can't wait for this on the Cybertruck!

A lot of good suggestions but many are address-able after-market so wouldn't push me to buy a new truck. My list of things that would make me consider replacing the truck are:
  • Hide the wiper solution (currently BAW) when not in use
  • Move the rear camera off the tailgate (maybe to the left corner by the turn signal)
  • Move the front camera assembly all the way to the top of the windshield. I know they brought it forward so the BAW could reach it. They would need some other wiper solution but it looks like such a kludge as it is.
  • Tire storage that doesn't take up bed space or reduce range
  • more rear steer (tighter turning radius)
  • Steel reinforced frame<->hitch
Add matrix headlights to the top of the list.

My personal list in no particular order(I just want them all 😂 )
1. Standard Matrix headlights
2. Optional LED fog lights
3. Optional LED barlights similar to the FS
4. Optional Starlink with integrated mounting but removable in case I exchange my CT for a newer one
5. Optional yoke

Otherwise, I'm super happy with my Beasts 🥰

1. Cabin power feed to support Starlink Mini (100W USB-C PD)

2. Adaptive headlights (super dope on my 2026 Model Y and previous 2023 Model Y)

3. High-mounted rear camera with washer (driving in snow/rain yesterday I was impressed how FSD could still make lane changes with cameras obscured by moisture...but still...). Add washer to existing rear-view camera.

4. Next-gen Autopilot hardware (I will probably wait for HW6, 7, or 8 equipped vehicles)

5. Awesome battery chemistry like in Model S and Model X - support faster charging, more range, no weight penalty

6. Better flow of WW fluid to help clear windshield

7. End-to-end improvements, as seen in new Model S/3/X/Y versus prior version.

8. Digital interior rear-view mirror

9. True seat ventilation - like all other Teslas
align/contrast with yours

1. Cabin power feed to support Starlink Mini (100W USB-C PD), we have, my mini wall wart is plugged into the 110v outlet on the back of the center console

2. Adaptive headlights (super dope on my 2026 Model Y and previous 2023 Model Y)
agree

3. High-mounted rear camera with washer (driving in snow/rain yesterday I was impressed how FSD could still make lane changes with cameras obscured by moisture...but still...). Add washer to existing rear-view camera.
would need a higher res camera mounted to the roof

4. Next-gen Autopilot hardware (I will probably wait for HW6, 7, or 8 equipped vehicles)
ok

5. Awesome battery chemistry like in Model S and Model X - support faster charging, more range, no weight penalty
agree

6. Better flow of WW fluid to help clear windshield
when you hold the wiper button a longer time, the full fluid flow happens
im ok with the current operation

7. End-to-end improvements, as seen in new Model S/3/X/Y versus prior version.
be more specific, we love the cybertruck

8. Digital interior rear-view mirror
agree

9. True seat ventilation - like all other Teslas
I also own a 2026 MY, agree

also

be transparent with the large number of PCS failures, i had one
explain the reason and fix for it to be cured

like the cantrail fix, book CTs with leaking tonneau covers to be fixed
seems the 2026 CT is fixed, fix the rest of us

add climate control into the bed or other mechanism for attachments to tents

in cabin, 4x, above door grab bars like all pickups

add headlight heater strips on front of headlights, melt snow

add camera washers at all points

Long Range Model 🥲

  1. 110 V outlet in the bed
  2. The full length LED strips from the AWD instead of the two teeny tiny lights
  3. A lockable tonneau. (I was lied to at the show room, Tesla rep said a soft tonneau existed). The hard tonneau is ~300lbs and makes no sense
Honestly im just going to have to go to a certified car electrician and have them wire up a 110 v outlet with inverter in the frunk or at the trunk and see if I can get salvaged side panels for the bed.
