yup, it pushes the tailgate a little bit so there’s a good seal. Little leaking on the sides where the weather seal ends which I’m ok with. Pretty good seal with dust too.
I don't think it's possible to seal that corner area, you can't leave the rod longer because it will get caught in the track and mess up the tonneau.

Got any pics?
I didn't take any, but I'll get you some tomorrow. Word of advice for you or anyone looking to do this, in the video someone posted, the guy used a cone made of scrap cardboard - I thought oh that's pretty stupid, I'll just skip that. Use the cone...

The only disappointment leading to an upgrade for me would be an increase in range to the originally advertised 500. With battery tech advancing so rapidly and improved composition it seems very plausible.

here’s a pic.

also, after inserting the foam, make sure to leave around 2” excess on both sides before cutting. Leave it for a day with the excess to give the foam time to shrink back before cutting the excess.

the cone makes it easier to insert and fish the foam to the other side of the weather seal.

Here ya go man. Not much to see. I took a short video too so you can see it pushes the tailgate just a bit.

For some reason the pic isn't uploading but you get the idea from the one posted above. And yes, as mentioned leave extra foam to cut after a day or two. I didnt and mine is a bit short

I don’t think my vault leaks there. Only in a couple spots up front by the window and even those have gotten better with repeated bitching at the service center.
that’s a really cool solution though.

People were saying they wanted to do it more for dust, but mine had a little water leak there because I don't think my tailgate is perfectly square, the gap on one side was just a little larger so the rubber didn't quite seal it off... I haven't water tested it because it's too cold out for a hose.

I also did the foam on the bottom of the bed where it meets the tailgate to prevent dust there too. Used a different foam there tho as the rod would just fall out every time you open the gate

Her family is here, also she's very pale so she doesn't do well in the sun lol...
Can’t imagine it’s all that easy to relocate a thriving practice either. Are you in business for yourself?

At this point I'm stuck here at least until retirement. I tried to relocate before we had kids and all. Now, it's not impossible, but extremely difficult. Kids have friends and school here. I'd have to sell the house and my business and I don't have the desire to start over from scratch. It took me long enough to build up a successful practice and I have no desire to do it over. Yes, it is my own practice, I'd never work for someone else again - been there and done that, dentists really have a way of sticking it to the new guy working for them.

Turn stalks must be added. Still not used to the buttons.
I'll trade you my 2026 Model Y with 1,300 miles and turn signal stalks for your stalk-less Cybertruck.

1. Cabin power feed to support Starlink Mini (100W USB-C PD)

2. Adaptive headlights (super dope on my 2026 Model Y and previous 2023 Model Y)

3. High-mounted rear camera with washer (driving in snow/rain yesterday I was impressed how FSD could still make lane changes with cameras obscured by moisture...but still...). Add washer to existing rear-view camera.

4. Next-gen Autopilot hardware (I will probably wait for HW6, 7, or 8 equipped vehicles)

5. Awesome battery chemistry like in Model S and Model X - support faster charging, more range, no weight penalty

6. Better flow of WW fluid to help clear windshield

7. End-to-end improvements, as seen in new Model S/3/X/Y versus prior version.

8. Digital interior rear-view mirror

9. True seat ventilation - like all other Teslas
