A quick reminder that in Texas, if you find yourself in a situation where your safety is threatened while inside your vehicle, you have legal options to protect yourself under Texas law. Here’s what you need to consider:

Stay Calm and Assess the Situation

First, remain calm and try to de-escalate the situation if possible.

Lock your doors and keep your windows rolled up.

Avoid making provocative gestures or statements that could escalate tensions.

Attempt to Leave Safely

If there is a clear path, drive away from the threat if it is safe to do so.

Texas law generally supports using your vehicle to remove yourself from a dangerous situation.

Stand Your Ground Law

Texas has a Stand Your Ground law (Texas Penal Code § 9.31 & § 9.32), meaning you are not required to retreat if you are lawfully present and facing a legitimate threat.

You may use force or deadly force to protect yourself or others if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent imminent harm.

Use of Force

Non-Deadly Force:
You can use non-deadly force if you believe it is necessary to protect yourself or others from an imminent attack (e.g., Pepper Spray, Taser)

Deadly Force: You are legally justified to use deadly force (EDC) if you reasonably believe your life or the lives of others are in immediate danger.

Call 911

Contact law enforcement as soon as it is safe to do so. Provide them with your location, a description of the situation, and any relevant details.

Stay on the line with dispatchers for further instructions.

Document the Incident

If possible, record the situation (the vehicle should do a good job but try to use your phone as well). This can be valuable evidence in court.

Take note of details like license plates, clothing descriptions, and witness information.

Important Considerations

Proportionality:
Any use of force must be proportional to the threat. Using deadly force is only justified if there is a clear and present danger of serious bodily harm or death.

Defense of Property: Texas law allows you to defend your property, but the justification for deadly force is narrower than for self-defense.

Most Importantly -> Avoid Escalation: If leaving is an option, that is typically the safest and most legally defensible choice.

Be safe out there always let alone when these turds are paid to show up in your area to disrupt and do harm!

Funny, I'm actually planning to do a test drive of the CT at the Austin location this weekend. Should be pretty funny.

I think we need to start organizing PROtests also... Where we are PRO EVs...

I would LOVE to see a group of Cybertruck owners (and other Tesla owners) make up signs that say POSITIVE things like "I Love Elon" or "Tesla's are the BEST"... THEN we get about 10-100 vehicles with them all drive by the protesters about 30 min. into their protests...

Pretty sure THAT would make the news too!! Well, maybe... But we could film it all and post it.. Would be nice to see what the Tesla cam's pickup as they drive by too!

I don't live in Texas (yet..hehe) but they are having them here in my area (Ventura, CA) as well, although so far only a couple of people actually show up for them...

What would be some great signage? We could even do ones in the 'Burma shave' format... hehe...
