I just had that 99 miles from a Supercharger in the US and 32mi from a Supercharger in Canada.
I literally convinced my dad to install a 14-50 off his workshop so I could charge in a emergency rather than slum it off a 120V outlet for 23hrs.
Then lightning hit, flume of smoke, 3 days later evacuation call. We packed up then at a "resort" 1 night, and then at casino hotel another 4 days. I was driving about 50 miles one way back to check on his house, charge for 2 hrs, then drive back to hotel. The DC Fast chargers were all 3rd party. Thankfully the casino had a level 2 I could just juice up at but it was 1/4mi from the hotel for a walk and I kept having people walk around the truck. One guy actively did something to the Charepoint charger to cause it to reset my charge. Thankfully it started charging again without me walking all the way back. They didn't do anything bad to the truck, just weird behavior.

I don't think I would have survived that had the hotel not had the charger. In the area they just added some Flo chargers but that app all looks like more logins, manual start buttons and goofy stuff. They really really really need to solve all these app/hell on earth stuff. I can't imagine sitting there downloading an app each time. logins/profile, add credit card... hope and pray.

In SW PA I'm discovering new charging being installed - but weirdly to me anyway - using CCS1. I'm not following the logic, I though we were all being reasonable and going to NACS. Did I miss a memo? Guess I need to figure out which CCS1 adapter for the CT to get...
I think the continuing installation of CCS1 chargers is due to long permitting times dragging out installations that have been in development for years.

As for the CT CCS1 adapter, I bought the A2Z adapter and it hasn't let me down once. I've watched 350Kw go through it and not had any sort of trouble with it. I don't know if any other manufacturers have come out with rated/listed/certified adapters for CT, but this one has all the credentials you could ask for.

Third-party DCFC'ers in Washington State are starting to be installed with NACS plugs. I don't think I would waste the money on a CCS adapter at this point in time unless I had a specific use case that required it. And I don't.

I feel you. Time is always on the x-axis and ultimately we are preparing for a world where there are NO CCS adapters. It ‘s like buying a Betamax VCR after video stores decided to go with VHS.

lol. Hear you on the betamax thing. I do have 2 spots that would be in between real (NACS) superchargers. SW PA is a little weird: not east coast, nor mid/far west. But there are spots that are a vacuum (or 110v) in a world of DC fast charging.

A little like Bellingham; lacking true supercharging but weirdly adding middle-charging.

Ordered the A2Z on the recommendation. Will have a Big Bend trip in the next few months so I will be prepared just in case.
I also still have a couple laser discs hanging about. Cool novelty value. 😁. Does that make me a hoarder? Yes, probably. Will I voluntarily give them away. Never. Much to my wife’s Chagrin. I mean come on…it’s a giant LP sized CD that can play Independence Day with Will Smith. Who doesn’t NEED that?
So what’s the purpose of the little pin on the a2z? I gather a lock of some sort but can’t quite figure out how that would work.

LaserDisc was awesome! Just to hold one was such a cool feeling of high tech!

Not to be "THAT GUY" but it's more like BetaMax had come out first (the superior format), but VHS became the intermediate industry standard, only for BetaMax to win the format war, and VHS to keep clinging to life. Anyway, it definitely harkens back to the old days of the format wars. 💯

Oh..Betamax was superior in every way. And first to market. Turns out that’s not all it takes to outlast the other.

Except cost and recording time...
10 more lines of resolution, but only for 60 minutes (original speed).
That’s right!! I forgot about the time. A real shortcoming. @mongo also has the memory of an elephant.

The vehicle locks the adapter to the charge port. The pin locks the adapter to the cable.

The biggest problem with Betamax was Sony’s stingy licensing of the format.
