Get a silicone insert for the wireless charger and fold a little aluminum foil between the silicone insert and the charger. This will essentially disable the wireless charger. Don’t make the aluminum too wide on the driver side and the key card will still work when needed. I wish there was a better way but at least this allows you to drop a phone in without it getting overheated. Better off getting a magsafe charger for the display.

So someone who I trust and is very knowledgeable about electrical engineering explained to me that the heat is significantly higher when the charging part and the part being charged aren’t exactly aligned and that the problem on most chargers can be improved by adjusting the location/position of whatever you’re charging.
I wonder if an aftermarket spacer/positioner of some kind specific to the phone or battery would help.
Don’t know how to figure out where the part in question is on the charging pad to test that theory though.
Seems like Magsafe has the positioning thing pretty well nailed.

My phone gets so hot it stops charging due to overheating. I have given up using and run charging cord out of console plug.
On a 10 minute drive my Android got so hot it shut down with zero charge. Didn't notice it until I tried to use the phone for the qrcode to sign into the gym. Fortunately the boss had her phone so I was able to get back into the car and drive home ... Now a believer in carrying a keycard for backup. Also not using that wireless charger until it gets SIGNIFICANTLY better.

The other day, my wife's Pixel 7 got so hot that her Tesla keycard stored inside the phone case melted and fused within the case. She could not get her card out and I almost had to pry the case open to get the card out. It burnt a hole in the plastic portion of the keycard where it stores the chip. This is crazy.
the manual says not to store any RFID cards between the charger and the phone for that very reason….

During the warm days when I don't want my phone to be charged on the pad, I just simply put my phone face-down on it.
