My iPhone 15 Pro gets hot enough to give a notification that it's "too hot to charge"... (Which is pretty hot, and probably not all that good for the longevity of the battery...)

Phone gets hot, Bpillars get hot.
I just noticed that the other day. All the cams must get hot, no?
I'm of the understanding that the cameras include heaters to defrost/defog, but would assume they are only deployed as needed.

I think the cameras get warm under normal operation. The front cameras on the windshield actually have a little PC fan.

145F is HOT for electronics.
Again this was in a climate controlled garage.
When it is 110F out if the camera temp goes up at the same rate it is going to cook the cameras.

I have a Pixel 9 with a phone case, and it gets pretty warm when I leave it on the wireless charger. When I use the hotspot continuously, it gets seriously hot (I need to keep charging the phone as it uses a lot of power).
The other day, my wife's Pixel 7 got so hot that her Tesla keycard stored inside the phone case melted and fused within the case. She could not get her card out and I almost had to pry the case open to get the card out. It burnt a hole in the plastic portion of the keycard where it stores the chip. This is crazy.

For preventative measures, I now use a phone holder and place the phone in front of the vent to keep it cool, but it defeats the purpose of just being able to 'drop in the phone', where now I have to stick it in the holder and then plug it in.

On a side note, I envy BYD's wireless charger, which has air flow around the charger to keep the phone cool.
My phone gets so hot it stops charging due to overheating. I have given up using and run charging cord out of console plug.

Since we’re suggesting dash or screen/mounted solutions, I’ve tried several and my favorite by a mile are two magbak chargers on either side of the screen

When I charge my Pixel at night, I've to remove the case ... In CT, even without the case, charging is super inefficient (because of misalignment) which makes the phone hot.

There are apps that tell you how much charging is happening in realtime (like Ampere) - that helps you adjust the position of the phone for optimal charging. But in a car without a strong magnetic attachment, it doesn't work.

ps:

I wonder if an aftermarket spacer/positioner of some kind specific to the phone or battery would help.
Don’t know how to figure out where the part in question is on the charging pad to test that theory though.
See above.

pps :

Charging with case on (in CT), stationary. But frequently the phone gets out of "charging mode" to "discharging mode". So, even when stationary the charging is flaky at best. BTW, my case is "magsafe". I had to wait for the phone to get to charging mode and quickly capture the below.

I've had my Cybertruck over a year. I've never had any problem using the wireless charging with two different Android phones in thin cases. Charges plenty fast and the warmth is similar to my charger at home (it never gets too hot).

the OBD port, it has an adapter
Also, I'm guessing I have to place the piece of metal on the back of my phone? If I place the metal on my case (my case holds 2 credit cards), do you know if the phone will still charge?

Suggest anyone with this problem report it with a service visit in the Tesla app. More people need to report this so that they can prioritize the issue. I've had this problem for a year and they keep saying they're going to fix it but they never do.

Oddly, I have an aftermarket wireless phone charger on my model 3 and it has never been a problem.
