I have been eyeing the cybertruck parts catalog ever since my cybertruck got bought back for many of the panels having glue issues and getting loose.

Over the past few months they have been slowly adding new versions of the panels, for example first it was the Cantrail, now I am see a new part number for the frunk lower panel, front fenders and the quarter panels. Nothing yet for the tailgate or the doors so my thought is maybe they are just using the new structural adhesive on those panels but the ones with the new part number have added welds or something else

Just wanted to share this with you guys as I am waiting to order my new cybertruck once I feel like the ones coming off the line are have all the new panels

Yea I can see “waves” on those thin panels. You can feel the loose sections when wiping it down. Not sure how long they’ll hold.

Interesting.

I dropped my truck at service today for a few things, including some metal issues. The tailgate sheet has a gap at the top and you can wobble the panel in and out like a Rolf Harris wobble board. Not good.

Also, what I think is the left 'bed side outer' noted in the original post, has begun to separate at the front top corner. It was fine at delivery, but has gapped in the months since.

The service manager didn't seem to be at all surprised by the tailgate, so I'm guessing it's a common issue. I can't see it being repaired and suspect a complete tailgate replacement will be necessary.

I'm a little nervous about the actual body panels, like the bed side outer. If the glue is releasing, I don't think they can just dab a bit in the crack and hold it together like they're super gluing a broken vase. If the glue continues to release, it would be a game of whack-a-mole.

I sure don't want the truck to literally fall to pieces once the warranty expires...

Yep tailgate is one of the most common areas for the glue to fail first, I saw one guys in Canada was so bad it blocked his rear camera since it bowed out so much

I would put in a request for any of the other panels, my friend just had his bed sides replaced as well, let me know if you get the new part number if they do order it and replace it for you, I really want to see what they changed

Good catch.

That's the Tesla mantra. Constant refinement and improvements to its vehicles.
Yea I am very excited to see how they fixed it, welds or just a new adhesive type

Yea I would put in a request, should be able to get it replaced, they seem to just be replacing panels with any issues

At this point I don't see how you can wrap a CT
You have to have a panel replaced then that panel is going to be slightly off even with a re-wrap.

Yea I have a wrap shop and that's what I do and I have for sure seen a ton of customers wanting to wait it out instead of wrapping

Of course, the CT was the best vehicle I have ever had. I see you're in Boston, I am in New Hampshire, I often go to Boston so if I see you I'll be sure to wave, is it wrapped or anything so I can know it's you?

Yeah, I live about 10 miles north of Boston (near the 95/93 intersection).

No wrap, just plain steel with Core wheels.

I’ll be on the lookout! What are you driving until you get another CT?

It is a shame, both for your business and for customers who at a minimum have cantrails to get re-wrapped if they wrapped their CTs

@ShockAuto, is this a cold-weather issue? I'm an early build (under 1,700 VIN), and in Florida, and haven't had any issues in 14 months...
