Just ordered my first ever Tesla (2024 Cybertruck AWD) saw a unit for immediate pickup with -$8K price adjustment. Now Tesla is telling me i can only pickup the unit in 5-7 Days so they can fix the Cantrail.

First Time Tesla owner so any recommendations and suggestions prior to pickup would be great.

Why would the unit be discounted at -$8K ?
How bad is the phantom battery drain ? (As i dont drive everyday and car will be sitting not plugged in)
Any thing specific i should ask or look for at time of pickup ?

Made the switch from a 2023 BMW X3 M40

Thank You In Advance :)

It’s discounted because Tesla has a large inventory of Cybertrucks and wants to move them.
Check every truck function and the fit & finish, especially the cantrails since they’re doing the recall: this involves installing new ones and there have been reports of them being horribly misaligned, which on the Cybertruck is a very obvious eyesore. Mostly relax and enjoy your new truck, most people’s (like mine) are completely issue free and they really are the best cars Tesla makes right now. Congratulations!

Discount is due to being a 2024 model.
Phantom drain is low as long as sentry mode and cabin overheat protection are off. Mine was asleep for 3 days unplugged and dropped 1%

Just ordered my first ever Tesla (2024 Cybertruck AWD) saw a unit for immediate pickup with -$8K price adjustment .... Why would the unit be discounted at -$8K ?
Well, first of all, it's a 2024, and we are now in mid-2025. In car sales, it's routine practice to discount any residual inventory of last year's models. Why would anyone buy a 2024, if a newer 2025 is the same price?

And in the case of the Cybertruck, the issue is complicated by the $7,500 Federal EV tax credit, which will probably disappear later this year, but which is currently still in effect. This effectively represents a $7,500 discount, assuming that you are eligible for the credit and that you buy a base $79,990 AWD. For the Cybertruck, eligibility for the tax credit was only established during the 2025 model year -- 2024s don't qualify.

So for customers that qualify for the tax credit, a 2025 base AWD is not only newer than a 2024 -- it's also $7,500 cheaper. Tesla needs to offer a comparable discount on 2024s to make them attractive.

Congratulations! You are gonna LOVE IT! Especially in Miami! A couple things:

1. Screen protector - get one from Amazon.
2. I'd get a seat (butt) cover for both the front seats. Sliding in and out of the truck can (and will) cause the seat to wear.
3. Get a Bed and Fronk liner from Amazon.
4. I wish I would have gotten some sort of liner to go over the top rail of the tail-gate.

Here is a link to one of the engineers who helped tesla developed their batteries explaining how to increase the life of your cars batteries. Dr Jeff Dahn. It's an hour long video but has really good information about preserving your battery. After listening to the video, I'm pretty sure the batteries will last longer than the truck by following his recommendations.

I got a bed liner for mine and a set of nice floor mats with a storage bin for behind the front screen. Then I wrapped mine in camo vinyl followed by a high end transparent and glossy PPF. Also got a windshield wrap and tinted the windows to 15%. Very happy with the AWD CT. I have several other vehicles and use each for various purposes, but I’m super glad that my “twuck” is a Cybertruck. You will really like yours.

Do you not have access to a L2 charger at home? Plugging in daily via a Wall Connector is highly recommended, if possible. If you plan on using a 110V outlet, it will charge very very very slowly

If you park truck in a locked garage then you can disable sentry and other battery drain features while at home.

My Cybertruck has no issues.
Congratulations!

You will miss many of the convenience benefits of an EV if you don't have a way to plug in at home. It will still be a great truck, just not as convenient and inexpensive to operate if you have to go somewhere else to fill up.

Phantom drain -
1. Your phone will wake in proximity to the truck so if it’s in a garage/carport it will wake up when you pass by. This will often assume you’re approaching for departure. I kinda wish they’d make this a exclude home option.
2. Doing things like “keep accessories on” or turning on the AC inverter 12hrs will also keep draining,
3. Exclude Home from Sentry Mode will stop it from running if in garage
4. App access can wake the truck, they recently changed this so it happens more when you execute a command like changing the charge level or otherwise.

I see a 1-4% drop per week. This just means if you have it at 65% few days it will be 61%, it will wake, charge it self if plugged in. Even when I was just gone for a week, it woke up for a software update and over that week dropped 2%.

Not only is it likely due to its 2024 model, but Tesla has a $800 million stockpile of unsold Cybertrucks.

I took delivery of my 2024 Foundation Series CyberBeast in December, particularly for the lifetime free supercharging feature. I have numerous superchargers in my area and have always charged free, never plugging in at home.

I travel frequently for work, and unfortunately, the vampire drain is a concern. While I appreciate the sentry mode feature, which provides videos and alerts whenever people take pictures next to it, I have noticed that the range can be significantly reduced, especially in warm climates where the overheat protection is enabled. If I’m gone for upwards of 1-2 weeks I’ll lose well over 100 miles of range.

Despite this, I am satisfied with the lifetime free supercharging service. However, if you do not have this service and need to charge the vehicle, I recommend doing so at home.

I have customized my CyberBeast with a Vantablack wrap, the darkest color in existence, which enhances its appearance and makes it resemble the Batmobile, especially in low-light conditions.

Before delivery, ensure that the recall is addressed and, if you have a Foundation Series CyberBeast, request that the off-road light bar be installed upon delivery.

I took delivery in December and am still awaiting the installation of the off-road light bar, despite having contacted Tesla for updates.

Battery drain is real. I’ve never turned off sentry mode and overheat protection m, but it’s at least a handful of percent per day for me if not plugged in.

It looks like others here are saying that if you turn those off, it’s negligible
