attaching the license plate to the hood of such a fine vehicle you are trying to sell is noble..?
What's that have to do with this discussion? It's probably just a magnetic license plate holder. I say that based upon how difficult the Hard Frickin' Steel is to drill through. But I'm not sure how that's relevant here.

Would you buy a truck from a dealer who does not know where the license plate belongs..?

I thought you said it was a joke? It's still over my head, which is why I want to know if it was a funny joke, (assuming one had a keen enough sense of humor to get it).

Shared this before... Regular 13k 12V winch with two Nissan Leaf lithium-ion modules as the power source. Winch is on the hitch receiver mount, but it can be rigged to the recovery hooks on the front as well using lifting straps or similar. Synthetic rope makes it relatively light to move around. Total cost of the build was about $400.

Does that cradle come with the X-bull winch?

great story. Thanks for sharing. I too carry a come along for this sort of situation. Glad to know it works!

I recently backed down from a steep snowy road that probably would have been fine. It's awesome to see where the limit actually is, since I wasn't willing to push it myself.

If you don't have ability to make one from scratch, then the easy way is to buy a shackle adapter for 2" receiver, and then use the angle grinder to reduce its size until it fits into the winch cradle's 2x2 tube.

If the winch cradle has a 2"x2" tube, then why won't a standard 2" accessory fit without having to grind it smaller? Is it 2" outside dimensions?

On another note, maybe I don't understand the design of that winch cradle but it doesn't look strong enough for a 10,000 lb. winch. Isn't that 2" tube designed to be the winch anchor with the winch line spooling out the opposite side? The plate steel with the four bolts looks awfully thin.

2x2" cradle tube is intended to fit into the 2" hitch receiver. D shackle receiver adapter (for example https://www.harborfreight.com/2-in-hitch-mounted-d-ring-shackle-57255.html) also has 2x2" dimensions and won't mate with the cradle. If you shave it off a bit, then it will fit inside the tube. Or you could use a piece of square tubing with inside 2x2 dimension as a coupler.

They're fairly light weight (read cheap), but should have sufficient strength for most typical applications. Like if one is truly pulling 10k, are they sending CT vertically up the mountain or something ? Jokes aside, there is some reinforcement between the bottom plate to which the winch bolts and the receiver tube. What you're seeing in the last images are non-structural handles, which is what those bolts are holding. Winch itself attaches with the larger bolts from the bottom of the cradle.

Here is a good image of cradle nearly identical to what I've got which should make it clear how things attach and the vectors of force

That Bog Out device looks pretty sketchy to actually use in many situations (but if it's all I had I would use it).
Just go easy on the pedal and steering and the bog out is less sketchy than just driving over a rock garden. I've used two and winch at the same time when I had a truck really stuck. The bog out allowed it to climb up out of a hole. Just winching would have just pushed the tires against the hole it was in.

With the same lug pattern and lug threads as a toyota.. The bush winch may be an option soon.
