Is the Out of Spec's detailing solution semi permanent (fingerprint and stain proof)?

Embrace the dirt. I do a full BKF / windex polish once every few months but day to day this thing is a dirty beast

Hello Guys,

Looking into purchasing a CT but want to be ready to make it finger and stain proof.

Out of spec detail recommend:
-Bar keepers friend
-Windex
-Panel Prep spray
-8 Year Clean Ceramic coating

Will this keep my CT easy to wash and fingerprint free for at least a couple of years? I am looking for a set and forget thing...

Let me know and thanks!
JC
No. I did it exactly the same way and after a harsh winter, I have to do all over again. Doesn’t last

I think Coleton is well intentioned, but he doesn't own a Cybertruck and does not live with one every day. He's designed a complicated, expensive, time-consuming process that is going to damage the stainless steel. Follow his advice at your own risk.

I'm no detailer, but have detailed all of my vehicles myself for 30+ years. Cybertruck is super easy to deal with. Don't overthink it.

If you don't want to watch the video, then just get this: https://amzn.to/3GZzRiT and some clean microfibers.

oh no… even ceramic coat and you had to go trough the whole routine after just one winter?

Started getting fingerprints again or what happened?

Perhaps I am not asking the right question…

PPF aside is there a routine that would keep the cybertruck panels looking clear and even without fingerprints for at least a couple of years…

I understand it will still get dirty like other cars with rain and road grime, but other cars can be ceramic coated and a quick easy wash will reset everything to nice and shine in a sec.

So can this be done with the CT? Hoping to get fingerprints protection and regular wash it maybe once every two weeks when it gets dirty, mantain like any other ceramic coated car.

This is a big truck, if I have to treat ir like a little jewel then its not for me.

1. I clean fingerprints and bugs off once every day usually at night in my garage and takes 30 seconds using window cleaner

2. I can hand wash/clean the entire truck (SS parts) in about 5 minutes with same window cleaner
Once every few months I will actually use soap and a long brush. The rest of the time I just use Sprayway glass cleaner on the stainless panels ... and the windows.

Sprayway.

You don't need coatings or PPF. Just Sprayway.

It's always interesting to me that in these discussions CitrusSurf77 never comes up, even though it's specifically named in the owner's manual.

I thought I'd keep mine SS but ended up wrapping it after about a week. Maybe after all you other owners figure out the best way to care for it I'll switch back. In the meantime, I love changing colors at will. I'm thinking red this summer...

Thank you but this approach is not for me.
No worries. Car wash soap and water works as well. Especially per your intended care guidelines.

I just find Sprayway leaves a light finish that prevents fingerprints, which plain soap and water does not. Good luck with your search and try not to overthink it, it's really the easiest vehicle to care for.

make sure your SS is spotless before you coat and you use clean/new towels/applicators. I didn't notice I had some residue left behind and now it's under the coating. So I will have to redo it again
Yeeeep have some minor spots that I did not wipe the coating completely off, or maybe missed when buffing. Minor, but there.
Going to leave it for now, two days doing it was enough.

Redoing it I think involves BKF the whole panel again to get the ceramic coating off, not sure how tough that is.

Why would ppf not be something that works for you? You could even get diy precut one for decent price now.

I had protectaclear for 6 months and it worked fine, then I got a wrap.
