What happened? My truck can now actually pull up to my house go into my driveway and park in the garage. It has amazing updates to FSD and more improvements that were never even advertised initially.Yet, Summon which cars have had for years or just having my truck back up or pull forward with me controlling it is still nowhere to be found. Any updates or info?

No update we’re being completely ghosted. It’s not even being listed in the ā€œupcoming featuresā€ anymore. I believe it will eventually come, but yes this is exceedingly lame.

Tesla is working hard on feature parity for the entire fleet. Autonomy is exceedingly difficult. We are getting there slowly.

The truck can already back up and pull forward by itself , I just want a button to do this from my phone totally supervised

I hope if/when we get this I can back the truck down a steeper slope than FSD will. I had marked with white 2ā€ tape an area on my driveway I park the truck in so it is close enough to charge. EVERY time it attempted it it went into TAKE OVER IMMEDIATELY MODE with the warning ā€œblastā€. Grok gave a reasonable explanation of why, but my driveway flattens out at the parking spot. Perhaps ASS would allow it?

Dumb summon. I’ve been saying this for well over a year. Simple stuff— no excuse for us to not have it.

Yeah, give us dumb summon at least! Let me pull it forward 10 feet so I can get in when someone parks next to me - don't want to scratch my paint opening my door :D

I'm sure we'll get it after my 3 year old Cyerbtruck is powering my home with power walls and solar.

I hear the frustration over Summon and ASS. It was promised and not delivered and that can be frustrating and annoying.

That said, there are a lot of things missing or wrong with FSD that I would put in front of ASS and they are equally frustrating and annoying (and actually dangerous).

anyway, happy holidays!

It’ll come with the 500 mile range version of the CT; oh wait, they canceled that.

It’ll come with the 1,000lb range extender you can mount behind your head in the bed to get your range to 470 miles; oh wait, they canceled that.

it’s coming with the solar tonneau cover and ramp embedded in the tail gate and kneeling truck ability…oh, wait, they canceled all that too.

They may or may not deliver ASS; I don’t believe they are contractually obligated to deliver the feature at all, let alone for free. Kinda like FSD, it’s not defined well enough to make any legal claim stick, so you get what you get and don’t get upset because you have no recourse.

But if you average over a long enough time frame, Tesla is better than most car companies on delivering software features — most promise and deliver precisely nothing. So getting a few stars when promised the moon and stars is infinitely better than the competition!

Better than most? Which one is it not better than?

Just about every luxury brand…they have their stuff done before shipping.

That said, I’m glad Tesla sold me on the electric vehicle idea. They literally caused the entire market to shift and now there are real choices on the market. You can have your cake and eat it too, so to speak, because Tesla paved the way.

You're kidding me, right?

All those 'concept' vehicles at all the 'other' car shows and not ONE of them has been built with all the features they show off...
When companies 'announce' and/or 'show' a vehicle they WANT to build and have IDEAS for them, that doesn't translate into actual BUILDS...

I think the CT is the CLOSEST any concept vehicle has come to looking like and working like the original concept...

Otherwise we would see about a DOZEN different BEVs from Toyota (that they have 'showed' over the past 10 years) instead of just the ONE MODEL they came out with YEARS ago that basically hasn't changed since then... Where are their models with the Solid State Batteries they promised more than 5 years ago? Never made... Where are THEIR 48v cars/trucks they said they would be building? Where are THEIR steer by wire ones? Where are THEIR fully autonomous ones?

Instead they swap out for things like 'massaging seats' or some other crap...

Sorry, but so far Tesla wins in that front as well...

My guess is Tesla is focusing on FSD to the point where they use FSD for smart summon and banish. I believe ASS is a separate code base from FSD (?), so why bother spending resources and effort on that when FSD will be able to achieve ASS.

You can see pieces of it in v14, like starting FSD from a parked vehicle, hunting for a parking space and parking, etc.

Summon/ASS for other vehicles was written on old autopilot days software stack and integrated side by side with FSD on new stack. This is why summon is blantatly bad performing on S/3/X/Y vs FSD for most things. (Speaking around short distance/driveways for those of you that are going ā€œSummon can’t drive farā€). It’s been talked about that since Cybertruck never had an offical autopilot stack to work with, it has to be based on the FSD stack only and this points to the delay in development.

I’m not a software engineer for vehicles, but the above made sense to me when I heard it. I do understand that Tesla should be able to work on this with talent at any point in time, but agree with what others have said that they are probably putting all hands on deck emphasis on robotaxi. I do not however, think its as easy as ā€œFSD moves, I should be able to move with summon on phone too.ā€
