OK I will go with the being legal as long as they own it but may be issues if selling and keeping the seat in the front.

I can see they have 4 kids and none are babies and that would not be a fun vacation trip room wise specifically for the front 3. Also wonder what is the plan for a year or two when a few of kids are even bigger and taller.

Hope they also got a real SUV like a Cadillac Escalade with room for all passengers to move a bit and store luggage and stuff on trips/vacations.
There is no Tesla model that functions like a minivan or suv or crossover. Tesla doesn’t have a true 7 seat passenger car for non-child humans…my wife wanted a Honda pilot for the roomy 7 seats over the X pseudo-7 seat model. I don’t know why their cars are so small, but my 3 teenage daughters don’t enjoy riding in the back of the CT…every trip we have to take the Honda.

Dimensions are essentially the same.

Except one seats 7 over three rows with 4 captain style seats while the other seats 5 and has a short bed isolated from cabin.

A family of six with small children?
Or 4 small kids with a wife.

this was in fact the design they took preorders on back when there was a cybertruck. The term Cybertruck has taken on a new meaning in the half decade between invention and production though.

I have a FS CB and I tell people if Tesla ever comes out with a Cybertruck, I’m buying one.

Indeed — 4 kids with parents. Maybe they removed the center seat to allow rear occupants better visibility when entertainment is on the larger screen.

Both the Model Y and X are more like crossovers than real SUVs. Many of my fellow Tesla owners are abandoning their Model Ys and Xs to buy other larger EV SUV such as the Kia EV9, Caddy EV SUVs, Rivian R1S, and Lucud Gravity for the extra passenger rooms and/or for the better SUV looks. I would love to see Tesla build a proper full sized 3 row SUV for family with lots of children or that fits the tastes of many American SUV buyers. I loved my R1S's SUV styling and if not for her unrefined drive, poor services, lack of tech and poor build quality, I would have kept it. The least Tesla can do is to build the Model YL here in GigaTexas. This is a great low cost alternative to the Model X.
