I've been listening to and watching The Smoking Tire for a long time. I really loved Matt's reviews of home brewed tuner cars on the dead Drive Network's /Tuned channel. Overall he seems like he's worked on becoming a fast driver and writes for R&T currently. HOWEVER, holy hell is he letting his personal life color his reviews of Tesla products. IIRC, his wife was part of the Twitter buyout layoffs and then as Elon became more vocal politically, it didn't align with his hard left politics. Personally, my views are left/centric with some hard right outliers. I don't necessarily like a much of Elon's politics, but I own a CT since it's simply an amazing vehicle (maybe the best?) that fits my needs perfectly. The hell happened to non-absolutist black/white thinking??

Where I think he truly showed his colors is shitting on Jason Camisa's original review of the CT. He was one of the first to review it and praised the tech, safety, etc. He also said in his podcasts that it's not for him and he would never buy one. THIS IS JOURNALISM, REVIEW THE PRODUCT. In turn, he's been called a Tesla shill and has expressed multiple times that he regrets the review for the amount of hell it brought. Then he made a comparison of the BMW M3 vs the M3 Performance...saying the Tesla was overall better. Again, this is journalism and sticking to your guns.

All this is to say, I'm overjoyed that the official CT page dunked on Matt's BS comments. Let the engineers do their job and focus on yours. And don't get me even started about his stupid commentary on "I wouldn't trust DBW made by Tesla"...even though Munro found a ZF logo in one of the castings. Fucks sake, how don't you know that every OEM uses Tier-1 suppliers for things like this.

My insurance ('24 CT AWD) is already $5/month less than our Model Y ('24 AWD). Considering the Model Y was half the MSRP of the CT, that's pretty good.
My insurance went from $180/mo for my 2018 Model 3, to $75/mo for my 2025 CT, but I had to switch from LibMutual to Progressive!
