If only he titled this thread differently - “Accelerator Malfunction…”

Looks like no one wants to apologize to the OP….

Hilarious….

Hopefully Tesla can fix this before it gets to me
Why would we apologize to the OP? Are you claiming the problem was a malfunction of the vehicle and not trying to take the corner at too high of a speed?

Sorry I forgot, Tesla is perfect and it’s always user error. It just so happens the OP came up with a story and then Tesla issues some fixes to SBW/ Acceleration ?

Nobody said Tesla was perfect, that is a construct of the anti-Tesla crowd. You know, the people who said Tesla does everything wrong, that they would never amount to much, that Elon had killed sales, a year before the Model Y became the best-selling car in the world.

In this case, there is not a shred of hard evidence that this isn't simply a failure to negotiate a tight 70-degree corner at a higher than realized speed and you have provided no evidence to the contrary.

I'll repeat my question, why do you think we should apologize to the OP?

Yes, this aligns well with what I said was the most likely explanation, excessive speed combined with a slippery intersection causing a loss of traction.
Yes this was the location, but I wasn’t trying to catch the light, it was green. I let go of the accelerator way before the light.
OP's explanation does not align well with your speculation.

That actually aligns perfectly. Just letting go of the accelerator may have been sufficient for a wide open turn, but not for a 90 or 70 back hook turn.

Decreasing radius turns like this are a huge source of single vehicle crashes - the faster you're going, the wider your radius of a turn is.

The idea that the accelerator pedal cover coming off could jam the accelerator pedal while it's floored is a false narrative. It's 100% physically impossible.

The cover is just thin metal bonded to the plastic pedal with adhesive. There is no back bevel holding the cover on, I just inspected the pedal in my Cybertruck. Therefore, if it slides forward, as depicted in the TikTok post, there is no way it could hold the pedal down, against the spring tension.

Anyone demonstrating this, like in the Tik Tok photo, would have to know this unless they are dumber than a 5-year-old.

It is possible that the foot just holding position above the pedal could hold the cover down and cause the problem. Obviously in this case just removing your foot removes the problem as well.

Why on earth does he deserve an apology? What he states is directly contradicted by the reports of the pedal cover being a problem. In the pedal cover video the owner explicitly states that braking worked fine. That proves that this is not what OP had happen.
