We have the off road cyber wheels and tires that came with our foundation cybertruck. We live in an area with mountain passes and occasionally drive through snow, snow pack, slush and icy roads. I have looked at the Duratrac Tesla offers and some at TLSportsline.

does anyone have experience with winter driving conditions and can share their thoughts on which tires have and have not worked for them?

for ease I was planning on purchasing the wheels and tires.

Yes I use Bridgestone blizzaks . Dedicated winter tire . Very smooth and good traction . Most of the dedicated winter tires are good .
Have read a number of people saying the Blizzaks are great winter tires. I was looking to not have winter and summer wheels/tires for the truck so I went with BFGoodrich KO3s about 6,000 miles ago. This will be my first Winter with them, did get some good rain in on them already and they are amazing. I’m curious how the Blizzaks and KO3 would compare.

I have the blizzaks and used them last winter. They were unbelievably good. I drive 60-70 miles a day for work, mainly highway driving. We had 2 huge snow storms where cars were sliding and crashing all over the place. With blizzaks I was cruising at 50 mph while everyone else was crawling along.

Blizzaks are good . I drive in snow every day to and from work . I have no choice but to have a good winter tire . Always trended towards the Bridgestone Blizzak . Have had Nokian , pirelli , Yokohama Michelin all dedicated winter tires they all good .

Nokian LT3s are the best
Can you compare them to the DuraTrac offered by Tesla? I know they will be miles better on actual snow and ice, but I'm wondering how they fare on bare and wet pavement, compared to the DuraTracs. Most of the winter the only snow here in the PNW is above 1000-2000 feet so I end up driving a lot on bare and bare/wet pavement and am always looking for a capable winter tire in mountain snow and ice, that doesn't suck on bare pavement.

The DuraTracs are OK in the winter nasties, mostly because the Cybertruck is naturally pretty good at finding traction on slippery surfaces, but the DuraTracs give up traction far too easily on cold, bare pavement (especially considering they are not a true winter tire).

I also ran the Nokian LT3s last winter and they were great in SW Montana. And we drive on snow damn near half the year here... We don't drive on ice much (like you might see in more humid climates), but we drive on a alot of different version of snow and packed snow.

Starting to look at winter tires myself. around what time during the year do you install and remove them? of course this depends on locality, but just curious. or, do you just keep them on year round?

Well, my choice has been made until the OEM Duratrac winter tires wear out. It'll be my first winter on them and I have a lot of driving planned, a 6000mi ski trip out west, so we'll see how it goes.

A Mobile Service tech came out on Thursday and swapped in the Duratracs for the Core Pirelllis. Only $85, and he was very quick and efficient. Very nice, if you have that service near you. I'd have had to drive 2 ½hrs away to get to a service center. Usually I'd do it myself, but I thought, first swap, let me see how the tech does it.

Only driven 42mi so far, and the efficiency is 20+% worse so far. ~400wh/mi driving backcountry roads. With the Core Pirellis I got an impressive 315wh/mi. You can see on the chart below, the before Duratrac and after, where I put the red line.

I live in Nebraska and went with the Studless Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3s last winter. They were fantastic and I drove them from early December through early March. Often on dry (but very cold) roads around Nebraska and they held up great. I would say they are not as nice as the Goodyear ATs that the truck came with on dry pavement. However for all the trips I took over the winter to Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana they were great and I was never concerned when we ran into snow.

Not sure what Discount Tire still has for deals this year but @CT-Chicago found a deal at his shop and when I went into my DT in Omaha they price matched everything, so if your considering rims and tires checkout this post.

One other thing I did is pick up the tire sensors directly from Tesla so that each season they don't have to unmount the tires from the rims and can instead just do a quick swap, which is free at Discount Tire. Here is the family, truck, and tires on a ski trip outside of Red Lodge, MT.
