I'm looking for thoughts/opinions from people who have replaced their OEM tires. I have about 20k miles on my core tires and it's about time to replace them. I've looked at a lot of the common recommendations - K03, Falkens, Toyos, Duratrac, but haven't seen much comparison (I have searched lots of threads) on the best tires for someone who dabbles in off roading and has a few snow events a year, but also prioritizes noise and range loss. I see lots of discussion for off road specific tires, and discussion for only range/noise, but haven't seen much for trying to get the best of both worlds.

From what I've read so far, it seems like the two best options to have good noise/range, while still adding off road and snow capabilities, are the Open Country AT III's and the Wildpeak AT4s. Seems like K03s and Duratracs offer much better off road but you lose more in noise and range.

Is anyone in the same boat as me and have pulled the trigger on either one of those tires? Or any other recommendations?

Would love your input and experience with the tires.

I know tires are talked about all the time, so I apologize for another thread. Just couldn't find anything for this scenario so thought a new discussion could be beneficial.

Bonus: Any experience with national tire brands that you would recommend - DiscountTire, Costco, etc would also be appreciated

Look at the Bridgestone dueler ascent a/t. Seems to be the best all around tire while maintaining the 3pms

I’m too cheap to simply ā€œtry different tiresā€ without wearing all the way through them. I wore out my Pirellis and got DuraTracs with the winter tire package. They’re actually not much louder, but do noticeably decrease range with the same driving habits. I won’t get them again unless they last super long, which, by my research, they won’t.

Next set will be either K03s (although I’m assuming they’ll be very similar to DuraTracs) or the OEM Territory RTs. Then I might try Nitto/Toyo/Falken.

Tesla definitely did due diligence striking this balance with the OEM AT’s. I’m yet to hear of someone who feels like they improved upon this all rounder tire in all of the categories. Off-road ability , durability, noise, range and street performance.

My Beast is my seventh 4x4 truck (starting off with a 79' Toyota SR5), truck four had over 300k on it, truck 6 had 220k, so I've been around. I like BFGoodrich TAs (I had one pair go close to 100k on one truck). Worst tires were Coopers (see attached picture), Nito's didn't last 30k miles, and having good luck with the stock Goodyears both all season & snow.

Very good point. I think for me the biggest downside of the OEM ATs is I'm 2.5 hours from the closest service center, so it's a lot easier for me to get tires here locally šŸ˜• I wonder if mobile service will deliver them and then I can get them installed locally?

I'm at 22k on my Core's, and it's time to replace as well. I'm 100% switching to the Michelin Defender LTX Platinum https://www.michelinman.com/auto/tires/michelin-defender-ltx-platinum. It's an A/S EV tire for Mud/Snow, 70k warranty, and Costco has them at $1900 for a set after the $80 holiday discount that starts next week.

This seems really compelling too. Costco includes installation in the price as well right? I think they have some other perks if you buy from them but can't remember.

Seems like maybe the Toyos or Falkens maybe aren't the right tire for me since no one was mentioned them yet

This is super insightful and very helpful. Thank you for sharing! Definitely will take another look at the goodyears

I'm with you. These are my next tires. I've always had great luck with Michelins and I like the look of these. Great reviews from these on TR from truck guys. I'm at 19k and waiting for a bit more mileage on my cores.

I agree - I have not seen or heard any reviews/reports/feedback suggesting to change from OEM tires. I'm at 26,000 and still have another 5-10k left. A lot of high speed highway driving (70-80MPH - western side of USA with high speed limits). If I get 30K out of these - happy. If I get 35K I will be thrilled. I do not run my tires to the indicators - I replace them early.

I plan on running these when I need new tires or if my stock pirellis really let me down come our first blast of snow. I haven’t seen anyone on the board review them yet. However a bunch of Rivian guys love them.

Not the Electric variant? They have some really good reviews and comparisons online. Seem to have a much sportier feel to them while retaining most of the offroad capabilities as compared to Wranglers or Nokians. The added advantage is they are EV specific.

I think the OEM A/Tā€˜s are the best all-rounders.

Iā€˜m at ~30k on my original set and getting a replacement set in a couple of weeks. Tesla quoted $2,245.
