I think this is going to have to be a thing anyway. A way to pay people to plug in a Tesla. I hope that someday, I’ll be able to fly to a destination, then have my truck show up a few days later own its own. I assume I could “tip” people at super chargers for plugging it in for me.
.... a "few days later?"

Let's say I have a business meeting in Cincinnati, 1200 miles 17 hours of driving. By Southwest it's 500am to 1430 - realistically add 30 min to 60 minutest at each end, 8 1/2 hours + 1 1/2 or 10 hours in airports. I set the truck off with my bags and equipment at 9pm the night before, done. It arrives and picks me up.

A more flight-efficient option - SAT to LAS. 1200 miles 3 hours non stop flight, 4.5 including hassle times. Still assume the 17 hours driving time.

For 600-800 mile trips these options are no brainers. If the vehicle is late due to traffic or road conditions, simply uber to the next stop at the destination and the truck meets you there.

But the other end of the equation should be examined, too. 17 hours of FSD, camping out in the back seat might well be competitive with the 10 hours or 4.5 hours on the airline. Maybe we'll be doing more road trips, less airline?

My use case would be, drive to airport, Truck drives to destination 800 miles away, 13-15 hours with charging, 3 hour flight. Get to airport, relative picks me up(or Uber). Over night my truck shows up. I have my truck for 2-3 weeks at new location. Send truck home 1 day early, it picks me up at airport. That’s 26-30 hours of a road trip, replaced with 6 hours of flying.
For me it comes down to (time traveled) / (time at location). That ratio says whether I should drive or fly.

I feel pretty confident that wireless charging in the near future will remedy this.
30% charging efficiency loss via wireless vs wired charging says EV wireless charging is a nonstarter. It's literally tearing up dollar bills and tossing them in a fire. We will tolerate this for low-kwh uses like watches and smartphones, which cost fractions of pennies to charge. Charging a CT one time can easily exceed $40, so paying $12 extra for the convenience of wireless seems unreasonable even for wealthy owners.

Was just at a SC with an Optimus on a pedestal just inside the main door.

They really should just have him sitting in the lounge.
