I didn't/wouldn't watch the video so I didn't know that the complaint was the size of the side of the truck. That is a reasonable complaint but is really only a subcase of the trailering use case.1. His specific complaint was that while he was 6'2", he couldn't reach over the side of the truck near the front.
2. My buddy removed the mirror in his Ram and put in a digital display and then a camera facing back from outside somewhere. It wouldn't be that difficult and Tesla could just use the video from the rear camera that is already in place. They could probably offer a mirror shaped monitor for that video feed and Homelink for $300 and would have a near 100% take rate.
I would not want Tesla to hook up the current backup camera to a digital display because: (1) it is too wide angle to be a good rear view, and (2) the camera gets dirty/blocked too easily. My idea is to get a 3-channel system with independent side and rear view cameras and mount them either at the apex on the back of the light bar (which I do not have for how long I do not know), or on a rack bar. That way they won't get as dirty and I can probably find cameras with a different field of view angle. I am hoping to tap into the 48v power feed at the apex and run the camera wires through the ceiling cover. This way, Tesla keeps all their cameras doing what they do and I get the views I want.
