I did my part and voted for Salmon, ID and Stanley, ID. Sure would be nice to be able to use my Cybertruck on a Middle Fork Salmon trip
I did the same. I’ve been voting for rural Idaho for years. Used the 3rd party charger in Arco once during a Craters of the Moon trip. It worked, but was slow. Would love something to make a Salmon trip easily doable. More off the beaten path chargers are really needed, no matter the provider.

So you let the generator run the whole time you're out? Not sure why, but that makes me nervous. Guess that would totally beat the "collect solar" while gone with lots of expensive and large panels plus solar generator. I've never had a problem in my 3 hunts and probably 10 uses of the generator to charge. Maybe I could leave it going and just let it run out and die when it ran out of gas. Maybe fire risk is what I'd be most worried about leaving a running engine unattended?
no. I am out in the truck. I get back and start generator overnight which sucks as I like the quiet, or just start it when we get back to camp.

For those looking to do the solar thing, right now there are some deals for the Pecron systems that make solar/generator a real solution for around $3k. I know still expensive but with the cargo trailer you have the space for a few 500w panels and then the pecron system is around $2200.
The bundle right now is $2297 and I think you can get a discount code if you look around for even more off. That will give you 7.2KW output and 6KWH of battery. Throw some panels on your trailer and add more to the ground and you could actually put some meaningful charge into the truck in a couple of sunny days. Might still want to bring a small generator just in case but the pecron solution is the first 240v systems I've seen with decent battery for < 3K.
I'm eyeing this solution for when I sell my RV and pickup a travel trailer. I'd load up the trailer with solar and carry the pecron as a backup. Maybe a small generator as well but only for use as a last resort.

Don't know anything about pecron and I have no affiliation with them. Just saw that they get generally good reviews and for a 240v power station with that much battery nothing comes close in price.

Yah, I just meant without starlink. Since the truck connects on its own anyway, I wonder why they don't just use their own satellite network to do this and detach from the cell towers and existing networks they use now to connect the truck.
Tesla doesn't have a satellite network. They contract out for the cellular bandwidth to AT&T. The thing is a cellular antenna for the truck costs about 10 cents. Starlink requires a phased array antenna, it would be too expensive. SpaceX subsidizes the sale of these antennae to get more customers, but they wouldn't want too many vehicular customers because vehicles tend to be clustered in cities. That would overwhelm the satellite bandwidth in densely populated areas.

Bottom line: Cellular makes sense for most vehicle data, satellite works well to cover the few people out in the boonies.

I've looked at building an insulated box to put it in when running. Holes for airflow and exhaust. Use it to put the generator or other gear in for transport. Several plastic home deck boxes look promising for a start.

I've watched probably hundreds of reviews for solar generators over the last 3 years. Pecron is on the top of my list for powering the inside of my trailer and also potential larger solutions for powering the truck instead of a generator. I'll check their Xmas deals, but will likely stick with my $500 Harbor Freight small generator for now. But I do think we're getting closer to making home made cyber solar a reality. Hopefully it's like TVs. Each Xmas the price comes down.....and pretty much stays down Each year. I paid $1400 for my first 50" plasma TV 20 years ago. Since then, tech is better a d price is lower. Appears that solar is doing the same.

agreed. Can’t justify the price just yet unless you are doing something else with the pecrons. It’s getting closer though.

How much do those things weigh though? I looked all over thier website and the PDF spec sheet and could not find it listed anywhere.

I have an Ecoflow Delta pro, which is also 3.6Kw, and it weighs 99 LBS, but comes with wheels and a trolley handle. Those blocky Pecrons don't have that, and considering they are also 3.6Kw they must weigh simlar around 100 LBS. Batteries that big are heavy. They won't be easy to move around it would seem.

I think you nailed it. I got away from the glass roof issue a bit by getting a powered shade for back there and then I put a sunshade from the front window above it. Pain but man I was paranoid about that glass. I also got a bigger generator. Champion makes one, Harbor Freight has a nice one. Yeah, the 2k was an ouch but it gives me a full charge at camp in 2 hrs (from 30-40% and only going to 80% while I hunt). I used solar and me Ecoflow Delta Pro 3 for collecting solar during the day. Not worth that charge but I keep up on heat and whatnot during the night nice and cold. We don't have a single charger between us and our hunt. Nothing. It sucks. I won't take it next year. I will still rock the Jeep but wanted to share. And last thin,,,, 5 of us hunting didn't shoot a thing. We now Vegetarians!! Nice harvest.

You are not charging from 30 or 40 percent in 2 hours. Not happening. The absolute best situation you are getting AC charging is 10% per hour. Nothing more is possible. 1. I own one so I know. 2. It's simple math. 48amp at 240v is 11KWh. The batter is 123KWh. Do the math. You are not charging from 30-80 in anything less than 5 hours!!! These are facts!!

no, I charge for a couple hrs here and there, running generator at night for 4-5 hrs and it keeps up that way

Luckily I have many superchargers near where I hunt. That made a big difference for me when the range came out as around 500 km vs 800km promised. I'm basically 50 to 100 km away from a supercharger at all times. However *I* don't eat Elk unless I buy it from the store. 🤣
Ah, a fellow Hope-Princeton-Merritt hunter I see. Cheers!

Another hunter/fisherman here, who spends a lot of time in remote areas. Much as I love the Cybertruck, it's clear it was designed by folks with an urban/interstate worldview.

DC Fast Charging - or any kind of charging, for that matter - is incredibly barren across vast swaths of North America. Spend much time in those areas and you spend an awful lot of time figuring out what's even possible. Having to schlep generator and fuel is the height of irony.

Congrats on the successful hunts!

Well, Fall is now over and that means my hunting is done for the year. (September) I even…
My youngest son and I just filled our elk tags from the Hopi Hunt O’Haco cattle ranches in Arizona unit 4A. It was fantastic. The Cybertruck is the ultimate elk hunting vehicle. Shout out to TSportLine for their CTX front bumper and 12,000 pound Warn winch integration: I used it with the vehicle in reverse to pull the elk carcasses from where they were downed all the way to a dirt road, and then on to a waiting trailer. Easiest elk retraction I’ve ever done!

I brought 2 Bluetti Apex300s and 4 Bluetti B300Ks, but they ended up staying in the tent and just being used for heat pads/blankets at night, lighting, and recharging devices.

We Supercharged in Payson, AZ, and used the Electrify America charger at the Walmart in Winslow with a CCS-NACS adapter. Had more than enough range to scout, hunt, and complete the mission. Heated seats and a heated steering wheel were awesome as was the locking electronic differential and adjustable height with off-road mode.

Best truck I’ve ever used hunting. Best daily driver. Just incredible all-the-way around.

It is the best vehicle that I will ever own.
