Was it a good burge? Looks like it was.

Quick review of the food.

1. The burger was good somewhere between In-N-Out and Five Guys … or a mashup of those two. I would say don’t add the bacon. It was crispy, but a little bit thick and chewy didn’t really improve the burger in my opinion.

2. The fries were super crispy, but in my opinion just OK. Kind of like if you ever get In-N-Out fries and ask them to make them “extra crispy” they make them golden brown and crisp but kind of hollow/insubstantial— like bigger, thicker “shoestring potatoes” (if that helps).

3. I had the kombucha it was fine/solid (if you like kombucha, which I do). Beverages are served in a (probably recycled) paper cup with a thin bamboo straw. The bamboo straw is better than paper straws, but the paper cup fit >>very snuggly<< in the cupholders in the CT and as a result of that and it all be made out of paper (including the top)— EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried to pull it out, the cup deformed and the top popped off! Annoying experience.

That’s all I had. There are a number of other options, perhaps another time.

Overall, it was fairly slow. No line to get into the lot, no line at the food counter, ample parking right in front.* I arrived about 7 PM on a Thursday so I’m sure timing matters. No celebrities, no real fanfare. No girls on rollerskates, no Optimus making popcorn. I think it’s very fair to say that the initial hype has died down considerably. I think that’s only natural.

The Wi-Fi was a bit buggy. It seems that you’re supposed to be able to play the movie in your car it takes over your screen and you get audio but that didn’t work.

Actually, the ordering menu glitched when I arrived but it did straighten itself out and that went just fine.

My truck got lots of attention (more than) I would like. But all of it was positive.

Oh! I forgot to mention the charging, it was amazing! I was so distracted by everything else that was going on that I barely paid attention, but I can say that charging from somewhere around 30% to 90 to finish my trip was lightning quick! But, I can’t be more specific than that, I just feel like it was the fastest I’ve ever charged.

Tomorrow I get to visit UP, and LEO gets his rock rails.

*It did get a bit busier as I was leaving. In my photo from the upper deck you can see that there’s only one spot available right up front. For most of the time I was there I would say it was about half empty. The place also has a weird footprint like they shoehorned it into whatever space they could get I don’t know how many stalls there are I’m sure that affirmation is readily available, but the lot itself looks like a puzzle piece.

This Google Maps image is before completion. The red outline shows the actual shape of the parking lot. The purple star is about where my truck was parked. What’s interesting is that the building highlighted and yellow is residential and people have balconies that are basically directly behind one of the screens. I can’t imagine that those folks are happy.

Ignoring the lovely lady taking a picture of me with her DSLR, just zoom in and take a look at the balconies that are on the edge of the screen there are many many more behind it that basically have their view completely blocked. I can’t imagine that there wasn’t some non-trivial amount of controversy about this locally.
