I started another thread on what I was thinking of getting butI thought it would be interesting to start a poll to see which Roadster model everyone is interested in.

So take your pick and lets see where most of the interest is!

Voted for Thrust.
Not necessarily my preference. Not exactly sure it will be street legal
But my understanding is that is what referral awardees will receive
My 13 referrals at the secret level got me a 26% discount, which amounts to $65,000, assuming it’s still going to be $250,000 for what they called the founders series at the time

Thrust is good enough for me.

So far my lineup is about 240k miles old.

Any model without FSD is going to prove really stupid.

Why do you think it wouldn't have it? What do you know? Link?

I'm not trusting FSD on my 0-60/0.81 second - $250k+ vehicle.... even if it can do it.

That’s awesome! Congrats. I’m curious on how and where you’re going to use the thrusters. or is just the having of rocket thrusts a cool enough feature just to have even if you don’t use it much?

I’m still vacillating on which version to get.

Reports from Franz’s are as follows: it has all the hardware. It will have a “light” version of fsd. Apparently one issue is the slant of the windshield. What fsd “light” means has yet to be clarified. But part of it is to focus on it being a “drivers car”. So it will have some form of light fsd, but totally not clear how limited it will be.

Im not sure how often I will use the thrusters, however you have stateed it perfectly that just having rocket thrustsers is a cool enough feature just to have even if I don’t use it much.

My 2018 P3D has a light version of FSD right now because of its older hardware (cameras, CPU ), however I can't tell the difference between it and my CT's FSD. They are both excellent.

"Thrust" is the most interesting and top-of-the-line model. People will be able to buy and drive it. "Rocket" is the Halo-Car, maybe Larry Elison will get one to fly on his island? Will the rockets be road-legal? Is "nitrox" road legal? Maybe Tesla will Geo-Fence the feature for track-only use? How much will it cost, $2 Million, or, more? Ultimately, the "Performance" model should be the one most $Millionaires$ purchase if they can afford it, $500,000?? I'm just really excited to find out how much the Roadster models wind up costing.

I'm thinking the Thrust as well as the sweet spot for insane performance that's still streetable. This could be an investment play as well since it will be sold out I imagine by the time production starts in 2028 (likely 2029 because Tesla) and so I would not be surprised if it exchanges hands for 2x or more on the reseller market.

Rocket, being a single seater and having the aerial thrusters as well as no usable passenger seat will be very niche and my prediction is that both Thrust and Rocket are able to be perfectly fine driven on the streets HOWEVER Tesla will geofence Rocket to their own test grounds which Elon has said they will build for Rocket owners to fly their cars (and I also imagine they will only allow remote flying and not let anyone be inside the drivers seat when the car flies).

The Thrust they may geofence to tracks but I think its more likely you will just have to touch through on the screen disclaimers before activating Thrust and also the camera may disable Thrust if the car cameras detect any person/objects/vehicles in the rear/vicinity.

It's very exciting!! So easy for Tesla to geo-fence the "Thruster" to "track only" locations. Can't fly a modern drone in restricted airspace without getting permission codes from DJI (before ban) With the upcoming proprietary AI mapping who knows what Tesla could do to restrict Roadster feature operation based on geographical position? It is quite a feature set. I'm thinking the "Thrust" will be in the Bugatti new car territory.

Footnotes
(1) Tesla gave range and charging for the car in general.
(2) There might be frunk space too.
(3) It isn't clear what "Limited FSD" means. After the reveal, Musk posted that you will be able to ask the Roadster to perform the tricks shown autonomously, and that Tesla will have a looping test track at its Texas HQ for owners.
(4) 214 mph is from Tesla staff via Top Gear and 210 mph is from Hagerty; a 330 mph gearing version is planned.
(5) From Top Gear's narration, not confirmed by Tesla.
(6) US amounts shown; refundable until you configure. UK, Canadian, EU and Indian amounts differ (India: about ₹50 lakh for Performance and ₹2.5 crore for Thrust).
(7) Musk's "not necessarily a safety-optimized car" quote plus the McLaren and Koenigsegg track-only mode precedent.
(8) Tesla's site says "Not approved for public road use," set against Musk's reveal quotes and DeSantis's post. The FAA says "The Tesla vehicle does not meet the FAA's definition of an aircraft," and the Transportation Department says NHTSA "will continue to monitor the situation."
(9) After the reveal, Musk posted a goal of over Mach 0.5, about 400 mph peak speed. This is a stated goal, not a spec.
