I was driving home from work last night *on FSD* and experienced this. It was going through an intersection at almost 40 mph, a car about 2 car lengths behind me. The light was flashing red for me, flashing yellow for the other side, right when the truck hit the intersection it suddenly slammed the brakes, going down to 30 mph in less than a second. very abrupt and without warning or sound or alert.
That is FSD. Not AEB. Check the logs or alerts. AEB shows. So we are talking about two different animals in this thread.

Post the video of the event.

I don't think there are separate stacks anymore, FSD handles all of it.

And to help clear any confusion, FSD is running at all times, but not all features are enabled at all times.

While I agree. I still think one gets an AEB alert. Check some other forums from me and others. Not CT related. If FSD is not enabled, and it did AEB related. It would log the event. The OP should be thankful that it does look out for ya even when one thinks it knows better.

This is the bag that my truck so bravely saved me from!!!
It is my belief and personal experience that the emergency braking in situations like this happen only if FSD thinks it's safe to do so. As in, no vehicles following you closely, etc. Otherwise it would just plow over the object it thinks should be avoided.

I've had a few personal times where I was next to a vehicle on a two lane highway and after going around a corner there is some road debris appearing up ahead in my lane. I can see FSD start to jerk a bit, but then realizes there is traffic in the lane next to me and decides just to run it over.

EDIT: Just realize you said you were not using FSD. In that case, in almost 34k miles of total driving and 3K or so on the v14 software, I've never had any emergency braking for anything when not in FSD mode.

So, out of an abundance of caution, FSD decided to brake hard to avoid a collision with an object in the road ... and your conclusion is that it's unsafe and someone "could have" hit you if they were following you too closely?

bruh.
Yeah, it's called the difference between machine behavior and actual human judgement. A human wouldn't have made this mistake. Yes, this is both a flaw and dangerous.

Sheesh. This from the guy who warns people to not purchase door jamb closing handles because you're definitely going to get mangled, unlike with the interior closure switch Tesla puts inside the frunk. Anything Teala does/says = good. Any issue someone brings up with the vehicle = idiot user error. @REM, refining the definition of fanboi with every post.

Just go sell your CyberTruck. The fact you’re posting this is ridiculous. You made it sound like such a potential danger. I thought based on your original post you were on a freeway or something. Then you post a video on an empty reseidential street just going around a right turn maybe going what 15mph in the night? To me with the night time shadows, that bag looks like a small boulder in the road.

Let’s play the game it’s not a bag and actually is a small boulder. Would you have wanted your truck to hit it? This post would be a lot different if it was. You’d be saying the emergency braking feature saved thousands in potential damage to my truck from not hitting a boulder, so thankful.

Also as others have mentioned disable it in your settings and save your bitching.
You can't disable it as a setting. Comes back every time you drive.

Happens to us pretty regularly in both the CT and MY. Rural roads, lots of deer. Happens almost every time on our mile-long farm driveway that has a few potholes. AEB is separate from FSD. It legally must be a discreet function.
