It looks like _somebody_ did: ... although I'm LOLing because the giveaway started in 2021, and Bobby Lee thought it was going to set him back 39,999 at the time.

Regardless of the source, if someone just handed me a CT RWD, free of all costs except electricity, I'd be thankful and drive the crap out of it. Is it the nicest one, of course not. Is it missing some things that I'm really looking forward to about my AWD? of course.

But free is free. Don't look a gift truck in the frunk. or something.

The 2 letters before the numbers are TA on the VIN?

OK, now I see what you mean. It's not weird that someone has a new RWD, but it would be weird if it has a 2026 VIN (i.e. "T" in digit 10). I would have assumed that all RWD Cybertrucks were 2025s (i.e. "S" in Digit 10).

Joe Tegtmeyer did a drone flyover of the Austin factory in October that appeared to show lots of fresh RWDs, apparently destined for SpaceX. Maybe that late RWD production run had 2026 VINs.

Maybe Tesla is manufacturing the RWD model again for 2026. You never know what Tesla has up its sleeves. All of the capital RWD tooling costs have been expensed so I wouldn’t be surprised. Textile seats, bed floor without the smugglers bay, etc.

Digit 10 in VIN will confirm model year:
R = 2024
S = 2025
T = 2026

Digit 8 in VIN will confirm number of motors:
C = single motor (RWD)
D = dual motor (AWD)
E = trimotor (Cyberbeast)

Tesla is unpredictable, but the Cybertruck order page currently has options only for AWD and Cyberbeast. There is no longer an option to order an RWD.

If you can hack it, then offload it and get an AWD. If you really can afford it, then get the CB. Me, personally, while a free truck is awesome, I would sell it and get the AWD. The air ride and speaker upgrades by themselves would be worth it for me. However, if I couldn't afford it, i'd be happy with anything i got free. Congrats on the win though!!!
