I didn’t think 20k more for 1.2 seconds was worth it. Think of 20k invested in an index fund over the life of average cybertruck ownership of say 5 to 10 years....also my wife says I should strive for longer than 4 seconds....

In the 3,000+ miles I've driven my AWD, never once did I think to myself "Should have gone for the Beast"

There's quite a few people here that have the AWD that wish they would have just waited or spent the extra $$ for the Beast... but one thing is certain, people driving the Beast will never think "I wish I would have went with the slower one"

I want to haul MORE, not less. This load put me over the rear axle limit of the Dual Motor. Having 230 pounds of useless motor on the rear axle would have put me 230 pounds more over the rear axle load limit:

I should be a politician as I'm giving likes to both sides of this argument

All jokes aside, I hope Tri, Dual, and even the Single motor owners can exist on this site in harmony. And I hope site owner doesn't split us off into different sub forums down the road.

I was originally a tri motor reservationist mostly for the 500mi range. Now the dual fits the bill best for me. That's not an attack on the Beast. I fully recognize I'd get waxed in a drag race
Let's all agree that the single motor guys aren't allowed. AWD is fine but single motor people should be confined to the corner of the forum and their posts hidden from public view

AWD owner here. I would have bought the beast if it were delivered first. That being said I'm super happy with the AWD performance. I also own a Plaid so I don't feel any FOMO.

If you skip the beast, I think you'll still be happy.

If you ask me, I'd rather they not build the Single at all. I also don't like that those who can't afford a dual be denied CT ownership.
I'd rather they not build it either, and they very well may drop them altogether since the dual/tri motors are so popular.

I would rather them stay more exclusive to the higher end range of the Tesla lineup. A single motor version would be like selling a 4cylinder shit box variant of a Raptor... Not a good look for the brand

And then you proceed to explain how the extra power really is just for acceleration. :ROFLMAO:
incorrect. I proceeded to describe completing maneuvers in traffic safely with much less stress—due to the added power.

This is a BS narrative that the Dual Motor would be dangerously underpowered for towing at its full rated amounts.

Secondly, a Cybertruck fully loaded to its maximum GCWR has plenty of power to complete any conceivable maneuver in traffic safely, including highway merges, with power left over. The acceleration is not "laggy" either. Nobody who has half a clue when it comes to towing heavy loads would ever claim the Dual Motor Cybertruck is "borderline dangerous" when fully loaded and trying to accelerate.
Sounds like you’ve never tried towing an RV on LA Freeways. Ignorance is bliss. Stick to the forest. ?

Got my beast in March. Not sure why people switched to save a few weeks.

That's good. Just don't drive a beast since you don't know what it's like yet. Because I assure you, you would be singing a different song and dance once getting back in the AWD lol

Reading through this is kinda entertaining. I just got my email today and immediately went Beast without even considering awd. But I am the type to always wish I opted for the better one instead of settling. Did that with a boat once, got a 150hp on it instead of the 200hp it could take. Hated it everytime I drove it and I've never done that since. In this case you are already plopping down a good chunk and I was of the opinion to get super car acceleration for only 20k, was kinda a no brainer. Now I just hope i get surprised and it doesn't really take until october-december to show up (would it be called a 2025 at that point versus 2024?) I did order the Grey interior and saw someone say there won't be any of those until July? Super excited for this thing regardless and I'm glad everyone here seems to be enjoying theirs regardless of if it's beast or awd.

So I’ve got a cyberbeast on order and I should be getting it early next year. I never really considered the all-wheel-drive model. But I thought I’d ask people here the following question: Can you think of any reason to choose the AWD over the Cyberbeast besides that it supposedly gets 20 miles more range?
The biggest reason for me is the rear locker. I've had clutch-based lockers before and they give up and require cool off time after heavy use. Now, I know the beast's rear locker is not clutch-based, but my point is that there is no substitute to the reliability of a mechanical locker.

Second big reason is the more payload you get with the lighter AWD. I intend to use my AWD for camping/overlanding trips, and when it comes to that every pound matters because it dictates what gear you can and cannot take with you. With a family of four the importance of that measure gets amplified even more.

AWD is already incredibly powerful, and the extra hp is completely useless and waste of money. My take is If some can spend 20K for something completely unnecessary they should instead use that 20K to get the foundation series, drive it now instead of waiting God knows how much longer, and enjoy your life time internet and (eventually) FSD at no additional cost later on.

Eh it's all good, it's all wrapped/tinted and functional and I'm happy everything works.
