I was about to order a new Cybertruck AWD with FSD when I discovered my dealership is selling their Cyberbeast demo fleet at a discount.

Their showroom demo is a Cyberbeast with less than 5 miles on it and a June 2025 manufacturing date. They'll sell it to me at a $6K discount.

They're also selling their Cyberbeast demo-drive fleet at a discount - the more miles on them the steeper the discount. One has only 300 miles on it and also selling at a $6K discount.

What are the pros and cons of buying a demo model vs new?

I thought maybe buying new would yield a later manufacturing date than June 2025. Does this matter?

$6K off being $109K with Luxe? Or since it’s an earlier build is it $94K? Vs $80K for AWD? I wouldn’t put much emphasis on either the discount or the fact that it’s a demo model. Neither are very big deals.

It comes down to whether you want a dual or tri-motor. FSD has become so good that it’s an absolute necessity in my opinion. So we’re talking $88K v. $102K or $109K now. If free supercharging and/or an absolute slaying 0-60 are worth it to you, do that. If not, go AWD.

100% worth it for the luxe package alone

Thank you both.

New AWD + FSD is $90K

Cyberbeast "June 2025 Demo Vehicle with 5 mi" includes Luxe package and is $112.5K with the discount ($118.5k if I buy new).

So $22.5K difference. I think Luxe packaged is valued at $15K so I would be paying $7.5K for the tri-motor.

I'm wondering if buying new today includes hidden improvements over a June 2025 model. I live in snow country 25 miles up a remote forest service road and my current Rivian served me well here last winter (rock solid; no issues) and I want/need the Cybertruck to be just as reliable, so I'm trying to understand if Cybertruck build quality has improved between now and last June.

If you’re running forest roads in winter get the AWD. It’s default RWD instead of FWD for the Beast and it has a real locking differential. But that’s just me.

Nothing documented that I’ve heard of, but they’re constantly making small tweaks here and there. It certainly won’t be worse, but also might not actually be better. Hard to beat that luxe package if you plan on keeping it around. Unfortunately luxe adds just about nothing to the resale value if you plan on just owning it for a few years. The free charging and connectivity get removed when you sell. Don’t know about the service plan but that expires in 4 years anyway. So a potential second owner will only get FSD out of the deal.

Even the early Cybertrucks were far more reliable than any Rivian. The build quality "issues" were minor and/or cosmetic, they didn't affect reliability. I beat the living crap out of mine on FS trails and mountain roads, park it outside in the wet and cold, never a problem.

I actually prefer the AWD for the lighter weight and being RWD biased.

Thank you all for the input and guidance.

I just ordered a new AWD + FSD.
Nice. Keeping the Rivian around or trading it in?

Interesting to hear all the AWD love. I made the same choice twice for similar reasons and usually I just get the whole ā€œyou only prefer it because you didn’t pay for a beastā€ response from other CT owners.
I also reasoned there was less mechanical complexity and possibly longevity in the two motor design. Only time will tell that’.

Those are just the cocky, stuck-up beast owners. @That Beast Mode and I love you.

I traded in my Model S Plaid towards a FS AWD, prefer RWD acceleration and handling bias, lighter weight, longer range and a lockable diff in a truck vs a slightly faster 0-60. Either would be slower coming from the S Plaid and a 0-60 in the high 3’s is quick enough for street use in a pickup truck IMHO.

….but that Alcantara dash…

Don't remember where I read it but someone was claiming that the 2026 models got about a 5% improvement on winter range. That alone would have made me go for the new build so congrats on getting the latest/greatest.
The only reason I would probably ever get rid of my '24 AWD would be a bigger battery/more range edition.
