You could always use one of these and save yourself the hassle. I bought it that exact one and it powers my skylight thingy.
If you have any issues just unplug it but I have had zero and the car has been in for service multiple times with it installed. Not a word from Tesla.

i tried this but it doesnt power off when you leave the vehicle. my battery bank has a on off switch.

The one I sent has a switch that allows it to power off when you leave the vehicle in position 0.
In position 1 it will stay on continuously. Can do either.

Need one with just the front tray with a phone holder there like the ones from the newer BMWs.

Well, I have a tray below the monitor, and I have an organizer below which I use a lot...especially to hold water bottles, among other things. Many people here, including @hemiarch love having a freezer/refrigerator there, but I prefer to have that space for organizing/storage. Which requires access to it that is not blocked off by unecessary trays up above it.

It is definitely not a perfect storage/organizing solution...but it is the best use of that space [for me] that I have found so far...

I'll try some others to see if it works as intended. I'm looking for obd to rj11 or maybe I just find one that has USB ports on it with a power switch.

Also easy enough. My logic when looking for one was as few pins as possible but I’m not sure if that’s correct. Just a hunch it will be less problem prone.
