They use EPA estimates for range as is standard, but there’s an insane amount of math and physics that goes into their cars. Go troll somewhere else.
Pretty sure @AverageJoe is a legit member here and nice guy actually if memory serves but I agree that it came off a little trollish.

Well I apologize to him if he is, but anyone who owns any Tesla and thinks it doesn’t have a literal buttload of physics baked in is insane.

It was supposed to be lighthearted sarcasm.

My truck 2024 FS AWD actually charged to a 100% was displaying 316 miles and I charged it to try and provide legit numbers for the discussion.

The truck didn't care what math says it's range should be.

Ah so there it is. Keeping it on miles instead of percentage is the mistake. I’ll retract my troll statement, although if you’ve been an EV driver for 9 years you really should know such a thing…

Percentage and Wh/mi will always math correctly together. Like every time always. Using their little mileage estimate is the reason for your doubt.

In most of your posts I've read you seem like a genuine nice person. With very helpful information and some good jokes.

For some reason you are jumping to conclusions and making assumptions about me and I'm going to choose not to engage further.

Edit: it was definitely bad math on my part to be fair no excuse for that. 317.5 was the correct math answer for 100% even though the truck said 316 at full charge.

For the record, I apologize and take back the troll thing. Didn’t take it as sarcasm at first. Just want to convey that real world range is always based on how many Wh/mi you pull and what percent of that 123 kWh battery pack you have left. If you’re cruising a slow country road, your range will be great. If you’re doing 90 on the freeway, it won’t be so great. Range is much more finicky in an EV v. a gas car and someone’s 100% range can change dramatically based on their driving mood.

Sorry for jumping to conclusions/making assumptions. Don’t mean to make enemies out of fellow cyber-ers.

Since when did tesla care about trivial things like math or physics?
I thought you were pretty funny here. I can’t believe anyone would be butt-hurt by this off-hand humor. It’s not like you criticized Jesus Christ for fuck’s sake.

Absolutely agree. Had a good chuckle as well. @ABILISK is a really funny guy too.
It’s just a misunderstanding

Started at 315miles (508Km) at 100%

About 9k miles over 1 year of driving and it still works out to 315miles (508Km) at 100%

I only charged to 100 a couple of times.

I have charged to 100% to many times to count. Most on purpose but sometimes like this morning I forgot to bring it back down to 80% when I got back from my 6 hour round trip to the service center and woke upto 100% saying 318 miles of range after driving 20,221 miles since May 2025.

Me too. Charged to 100% fairly frequently on all our cars. I understand the phobia in general but can’t tell you I noticed any deleterious effects from that.
If you really want to know, charge to 100%.
If you then run the battery very low it allows the bms to relearn the battery I believe I read once. Same post also said this improved projected range for them and that they recommended this as infrequent but regular maintenance.

Just watched Motortrend video, amazed that these brand new eng EVs are only matching our cybertruck range, Cybertruck being designed and engineered over 3x years ago, our 300-330 miles is very satisfying vs Evs coming to market (not loving the Lucid look, congrats on $125K vehicle getting 335 miles of range)
Toyota's new pickup, 150 miles, terrible
Elon and team did a great engineering job on our truck's efficiency

I am currently at 51k miles and my max range at 100% is stated as 297miles I believe. I charge to 100% about 8-10 times a month as I do long 400 mile rnd trips to the ranch every weekend (100% to get there, 100% to get back). Daily charge at the house is only to 80%. Over the last 20 months or so owning the truck I would guess I have charged it to 100% maybe 150 times give or take. So far so good!
