If it’s anything like the insurance they provided in California,I would pass. They also need better customer service; one needs to be able to speak to a human. It’s bad enough trying to reach customer service at Tesla.

Yikes, good to know. I’ve got it on a multi car policy now with Travelers, so I’ll just keep doing that!

In California, the "Tesla"-branded insurance is actually provided through State National Insurance Company. There have been a lot of complaints about the service. Earlier this month, state regulators began threatening to pull their business license:

The California Department of Insurance issued enforcement actions today against Tesla Insurance Services, Inc. and Tesla Insurance Company (Tesla Companies), plus State National Insurance Company (State National), in order to protect consumers after the companies repeatedly failed in their legal obligations to adequately handle hundreds of California automobile policyholder claims. Tesla Insurance Services, Inc. is an appointed agent for State National, an admitted insurer in California. Unless these issues are resolved in favor of policyholders beforehand, the companies will be ordered to a hearing before an administrative law judge to determine whether they will be able to maintain their ability to transact insurance business in California as well as face significant monetary penalties.

Don't know if Tesla partners with State National in other states.

Update: Apparently Tesla started transitioning away from State National in California earlier this year, and has begun underwriting Tesla insurance themselves:

For the first time since launching Tesla Insurance in 2019, Tesla will begin underwriting its own policies, starting in California.

Tesla Insurance originally debuted in California and has since expanded to several U.S. states. Until now, policies were underwritten by State National, a subsidiary of the Markel Insurance Group. However, Tesla is now transitioning to fully in-house underwriting, beginning with its home state.

Again, don't know if this is also the case in other states.
