It does one thing really well.

Makes the Cybertent look like a steal!

Why would anyone buy this over the CT?
cybertent seems like much much more of a pain in the ass to set up in any kind of not good weather. all rtt’s and this thing set up much faster. also your bed is 1/3 full of tent.

right now I would rank things - if price wasnt an issue
any rtt
this tent
any traditional tent
cybertent.

also for a rtt or cybertent - what do you the morning after you set up camp at the big meadows campground in shenandoah and then want to hike old rag?

this was always a question to me that was the nail in the coffin for cybertent, and a major thought about any rtt

so I was planning on spending about 5k anyway for a rack, rtt, and why not get an awning at that point. boy math im saving 400 lol

Have you seen this?

There are several similar products. Not quite as slick as the Thule but the concept is the same. Also unreasonably priced

For me it’s about needing a second tent for the kids and not wanting to get rid of my cybertent.
Rtight now I use an inflatable ground tent but for dispersed camping, I’d rather be off the ground.

my positives are now -
rapid deployment
off the ground but not waaaayy off the ground - how nice is bench height for shoe removal?!?
ability to always use both sides for exit

basically old man me is liking it. haha

Intuitively it seems like something drafting behind the car probably has less range impact.
I don’t KNOW that that is true but I think so.

$5k for this thing is insane.... It offers no advantage over a tent you can get from a sporting goods store throw in the bed and pitch yourself.
Thule tax. Also, it’s almost as if you didn’t even watch the easy set up video. That’ll get your changing your tune! You’re gonna feel real silly after you see that! /s

Does anyone know what it takes to relocate the factory rear camera? I’m certain it is possible because certain designs like the cyberphoenix truckbed camper rely on the tailgate being permanently open.

I’d like to challenge this thinking but,
