Walter Isaacson:

"Elon Musk is going all-in on Tesla, and Optimus and xAI. He's back to his basic companies as apposed to his 6-month detour with DOGE. The big news is that he's back to being focused on his basics."

Here's today's Musk interview that he's referring to:

for those who understand company's fundamental (any company) noise(irrelevant) is the perfect opportunity to load T$LA. As usual, there'll be tons of FUDs before/during the Robotaxi launch. :p

I hope he set a clause(s) with a foreseeable future of what can be ‘changed back’ to previous…

hope this 6month of leaning the odds in favor of RoboTaxi, and Tesla actually pays off in some measurable fashion.

? Elon Musk; the man, the legend is back ?
Please open up a Tesla diner in Starbase city that's 3 times as big as the one in L.A. ?? ?? ??
Starbase city will become the Tesla Mecca. It is now on my bucket list to visit for sure.
Everything is bigger in Texas ?

I don't think Elon really ever "left". What's said or done (public facing) likely has little to do with Tesla's innovative processes or core fundamentals.

Elon has already been managing other companies during his years at Tesla so he was already wearing several hats. Narratives saying he's now focused on this or focused on that - really don't mean that much as we usually don't see Elon for most hours of his long workday.

I think Elon wants sustainability and quality of life for humanity so he'll continue focusing on various companies and interests that may have implications or are factors.

With Elon's accomplishments, selfless contributions to humanity, and his work ethic - I don't know of anyone from the sidelines that is qualified to judge what Elon should be doing or focusing on. But there are many armchair critics out there who presume to judge and like to squawk.

The damage is already done. Elon returning to Tesla full time won’t restore consumer confidence or help the company meaningfully—aside from pleasing a small group of die-hard fans. His political affiliations have contributed to declining sales in several countries, and the only thing trending up is the sale of anti-Elon stickers. Many Tesla owners now worry about vandalism or feel ashamed of being associated with his public behavior. It’s a bitter irony: he once led the most climate-forward car company, yet supported an administration hostile to renewable energy and climate science. People are waking up to the hypocrisy—and they’re walking away.
Need that cheap 20k Model 2 to rebuild trust ?

Elon: “We’ve seen a major rebound in demand at this point.”
We all know that Elon sometimes makes unrealistically optimistic statements. This looks like one of them.

Tesla vehicle sales fell from 2023 to 2024. They continued to fall in 1Q 2025, and indications are that they will fall again in 2Q 2025. We should find out on July 2, when Tesla releases the 2Q 2025 production and delivery numbers.

Some people would say that the vehicle numbers no longer matter, because Tesla is now an AI/robotics company, not a vehicle manufacturer. Maybe so. Just saying that I don't see a "major rebound" in demand for Tesla vehicles, and I don't expect the July 2 numbers to show it either.

Exactly.. media narratives that people listen to (most of which have negative agendas) are what drive the people judge how Elon is running his companies.. not the people in his companies he works with

This is slightly misleading though. Q1 the last two years were low (retooling M3 2024, retooling MY 2025). So of course those Q1 will look even worse than other Q1s that were bad in general as industry standards…Q3 and Q4 in 2024 were higher than Q3/4 in 2023, with Q4 2024 being their ALL-TIME high quarter. The only real outlier was Q2 in 2023 was 20k better than 2024.
But saying “continued to fall Q1 2025” is not true coming off their best quarter of all time.. and factoring in that activists were shooting up stores and vandalizing innocent civilians and their teslas along with retooling the MY production line and it’s easy to see how Q1 this year was low… I do think the less EM is involved in DOGE, the less the activists will have a reason to hate him, and the superiority of the products will take center stage

also remember, 2023 was when MY went from 65k to 51k overnight.. so many people like myself finally jumped in because they became affordable starting Q1.. there is a lot more to the discussion than “everyone hates elons politics so Tesla numbers are going to continue to crash” that the media tells everyone
