Hi all, I'm at just over 2 weeks now (15-16 days) without receiving permanent license plates in the mail. Do I need to check with anybody at Tesla or the DMV or what are the times people are looking at for getting them?

I’m about 3 weeks out and haven’t received them yet. Gonna personalize so I’m looking forward to getting them to start that clock.

Same…though how does that work if we also want to get the HOV lane stickers. Order would be get your officials, apply for the vanity plates, then the clean air vehicle decal program?

Yes, I believe that would be the correct order. You have to have your permanent license plate number to apply. I would imagine once the personalized plate is received, you can apply to make the change to it.

Are you really expecting that your local DMV government office can do anything that quick?

You will probably run to within days or even over the date on your temp tag.

I don't think you need the actual plate to arrive to apply for personalized, just need to know the number.

-Crissa
I think you do because I tried to start that process with the number on my temps and it said you’re not in the system yet. ?

I believe that Crissa meant that you only need the tag number. Which should only be a day or two away from getting the tag.
In Georgia, I can look up the registration status from the VIN. From that I can see the tag number.

You need the number, which you sometimes can get on your paperwork before the plates arrive. The temp number is a different system.

@Crissa is correct. The temp plates are not the same as the permanent plates. I tried that also and it didn’t work. Today I went to AAA and was able to order my personalized plate because the permanent plate number had been issued. Still haven’t actually received my issued plates but at least I got the clock started on the personalized plates.
