I finally got my PowerShare install scheduled and wanted to give details here since it’s been a big unknown.

AWD: PowerShare gateway and wall charger included. Installation is out of pocket.

Cyberbeast: PowerShare gateway, wall charger, installation included.

Hardware is shipped to the installer after the price quote is accepted and install date scheduled.

Permitting with utility company required (part of installation cost in my case).

Cybertruck can provide 48 amps and about 11kw of continuous power during an outage which is about 10 hours with full battery. Realistically will pull half that or less during the day and much less at night which pushes it to 1 full day. If you have solar (as I do), it works in tandem so can extend to several days of backup.

Currently does NOT provide load shifting. Load shifting is a feature of the powerwall to try and avoid high rate time of day from the grid and instead use battery during that time. At this time, due to regulations and agreements with utility companies, this can only be used when your home is disconnected from the grid (outage, or perhaps if you go manually disconnect).

The hope is once a bunch of these are installed and the regulations update, they could enable load shifting with a simple software update.

Prices to install will vary a ton based on the work needed and I’m not going to speculate on that, but assume in the thousands.

Thanks for sharing! Sounds like the installation cost is coming in under the $4k FSCB coupon which is promising. When do you expect to get your cybertruck (or do you already have it)?

My installation is happening Monday. Will report back on how it works out with pictures.

My install is a little on the harder side, and will be $5500, not including permit costs. My area tends to charge more than others as well.

Note that you need a strong WiFi at the install site.

Sad to hear we can't use time shift like powerwalls. Good news is we get a 123Kwh battery we can drive around, and recharge our house at a working SC to keep the house functioning long term.

I have solar and Powerwalls with load shifting. Any idea how the PowerShare will work with the Powerwalls?

Not 100% sure. Load shifting will work in that case since the truck will go to the powerwall first. I think teslas website has a diagram of how that will function.

I think it will be on a separate circuit as your powerwall so still won’t help with load splitting. Check out the diagram at

Has anyone who has received and been approved for the gateway also have a gas backup generator? We have one on an automatic transfer switch. Hoping it’s possible to install the gateway as a second backup power option. From the diagram showing the solar and powerwall as a second option it would suggest that’s possible but hoping for confirmation. Really hoping for my survey soon, but in its absence will settle for info from someone ahead of me :)

I was told "no" and given 6 months of free supercharging. I still very much want my wall charger though. Hope they don't think 6 months of supercharging is equal. I very much disagree and almost never supercharge(my Model 3 hadn't been supercharged in over a year before I sold it last month)

Any idea how much the PowerShare gateway and wall charger would cost without installation? ?

I’m not going to install a power wall or power share and was hoping to get the free supercharging instead. Got the notice I qualify. ?

for that price ill just use the 9,000 watt output of the NEMA 14-50 plug in the truck to feed a breaker instead, not worth all the hassle to get an extra 2000 watts
