Minimum is some tie downs/ bungies to hold stuff in the back...and / or bed divider....everything else is optional depending upon use case.

Flashlight
Knife
Shovel
Foldable Saw
Glow Sticks
Tow Strap / shackles
Traction Boards
Basic Tools
Duct Tape
Tire Repair Kit
Air Compressor / tire inflator
Ice Scraper
Med Kit
Fire Extinguisher
2 way radios
Extension cords for 110v
Gloves
Frunk Storage box
Hitch
Spare Tire
Satelite Communicator - no signal in many places I go
Bear Spray, Air Horn, Firearm (mountains have bears, etc)
ONR for Fingerprints

.......

Trucks can hold a lot of things - just depends on what u will do with it... I camp in a toy hauler, dirt bike, some 4x4 - but spend a lot of time in the mountains - so I tend to carry / use a lot of stuff. If I lived in downtown San Fran I wouldn't need 95% of above.

Get what you think you will use and no more - no need to carry around a bunch of useless stuff as dead weight

I have 2 large bins in the bed with way too many tools to list. But I would say the essentials are basic tools like players, screw drivers, wrenches, drills with bits. Ratchet straps, cleaning touch-up supplies.

Great information above. As they also say it is best to tailor what you carry to where you are going (too much extra weight is not a good thing). Items that I would add (and always carry):

IFAK
"Bobo" Kit
Water and/or water purification method.

L-track anchors. About $20 for 12. Holds down 2,000 lb and is easily moved along either side of L-track system. There are many types. It's a great luxury to have these anchor tracks.

I’m planning to get those black bins Tesla sells once I get that $2500 couches. Will probably keep dog supplies, extra bungee cords, rope, screw drivers, etc. It’s my first truck as well so I’m just taking it day by day and enjoying the extra space.

I keep this tire filling setup in the basement of the bed. It can fill all four tires from 35 psi to 50 psi in 4 minutes total. I have it for airing up after off-roading, but it would work great to fill a single tire after plugging a puncture. It plugs into the 120V bed outlet.
