So if I may be so bold, as one of the only people who has seen both, which tent/setup do you prefer? Obviously they are both awesome for different applications yada yada but which would you most like on YOUR personal truck?

also with that specific thickness there better be a Pi pun in the name of the tent or ill be disappointed.

Sorry. I couldn’t help myself. The dad jokes are an ever escalating invasive disease.

Maybe that was an unfair question. Sorry. I understand they are both your babies and you love them equally.
I’m just chomping at the bit to know which one is better for me.

It’s a tough choice, so we created a few different options. If you check out iKamper or Roofnest, you’ll see they offer both a side-opening version, which is wider, and a wedge-style version, which is shorter.

If you need a queen-size bed and don’t mind driving a bit slower (around 65–70 mph), the SkyLounge could work well. If range efficiency is important to you, the integrated tent is a better choice. It allows you to sleep two in the bed and two on top since the bed and tent are connected, or you can just sleep two in the bed and lift the base of the tent to have space to stand and move around.😊

The latter sounds more appealing but that assumes an empty bed. I can’t remember the last time I was able to accomplish that while camping with my family.

agreed but ive never had this much storage space before, and if im smart with bins and such (husky red dust-proof + toughbilt stacktech + tmat ftw) I could figure it out! now what was ground tent space can be hang/out lounge space!

I guess the idea is that you unload everything to make the bed empty and then sleep in it.
The whole idea of a rooftop tent upgrade for me is quick setup though. I currently use this inflatable ground tent and also own a cybertent but that’s for skeleton crew camping. Not enough room for the kids with us.

So looking forward to ordering this. Ordered the Cybertruck Bed Rack Kit last week. Hope the tent is available for order soon to go on top of it.

I currently use this inflatable ground tent
Can you please elaborate on that tent of yours? That looks awesome!!! 🤩

How much to buy? What is it like? How long to inflate? (how much of a pain in the ass is it?). How much storage space needed to haul along with you?

ETC. !!!
Thanks in advance!🙏

So I got the idea from this creator in Colorado back when he wasn’t solely dedicated to slinging the $70k Phoenix truck bed camper which is way cool but also out of realistic reach for most people. In fact, I’ve kind of stopped watching him for that reason. It’s become a little monotone and focused in on marketing this one product he’s into. Or maybe gets some sort of kickback from. I don’t know.

It’s called a Coody koala 7 and it takes about 10 minutes to set up if my wife is helping. About 20 alone but some of that is inflation time where you can do something else. I use a standup paddleboard pump which I also use for my cybertent. No hand pumping here.
It’s quite large as you can see, but surprisingly not that heavy. I’d estimate around 80-90 lbs.
When it’s packed in its bag, it and one of the bins for the $250 Tesla Tupperware set both fit under the cybertent if that gives you an idea of packed volume. So about 2/3 the size of the now mythical range extender.
Has all the creature comforts like ac ducts and different window options for different weather conditions and even a chimney hole for a wood stove but that freaks me out too much to even attempt with kids. I’ll stick to my two Ecoflow wave 2’s and might consider a diesel heater if I were using it to camp in the kind of places I can’t usually get my wife to camp (read…snow)
Overall, I think it’s awesome.
One of the main advantages as I see it is that it frees up the truck. Last time we went camping I set up and then realized I’d left the macaroni and cheese in a box in the garage which is a no-no with a 7, 5 and 1 year old, so I just ran into town and got some. No big deal.
We also go exploring trails, or fishing or sightseeing/trying new restaurants with the truck during the day and leave camp set up. We just pack up our valuables into the vault.
Not a bad setup overall.
Here is a clip of what it’s like to glamp in there. It’s a snapshot of parental nirvana. Kids are asleep and there is complete silence except for the AC.

It’s about $2500 for the black one which I like because complete air conditioned darkness in the morning is possible. I go camping to relax and sleeping late which I hardly ever get to do is part of that process for me.

@Urander , sorry for doing this on your thread. I’m not marketing anything. I just like it as an alternative and was asked about it.
FWIW I’m genuinely interested in buying one of your campers. Or maybe the queen tent. I’m honestly having a hard time figuring that one out.
I own the cybertent because there are circumstances and places I want to camp where I don’t really want to be on the ground and also in part because I had $2500 to burn with Tesla at one point.
It’s just not big enough with a wife, three kids and a puppy.

When you’re mobilizing an operation like my family, a MASH base is kind of necessary. lol
Believe it or not, this picture is fairly “streamlined” for us.
That’s the trade off. My wife requires certain creature comforts. 😁
I get the privilege of her agreeing to come and she gets the ac, electric griddle, rinsekit shower and cushy Hest mattresses. We also typically spend a night in nice hotel on the last night so everyone can be grossness free by the time we get home.
Good deal right?

Dude, thank you so much for the detailed reply!!! 😁 🙏

I watched that Youtube video you linked and I can see his beige one is definitely not blacked-out for daytime/morning sleeping in late. So, you're saying the black version (also the most expensive probably for this reason) is blacked out during the day?

I don't view this on-ground infatable tent as a direct competitor for rooftop tents. It is just a different option...for reasons you described (midnight emergency maccaroni runs, etc.. 😂).

The rooftop tent I view as convenience thing...and/or a second "apartment," or "guest house" that offers more sleeping options...or just for a quick setup for a night or something. Not necessarily for guests....since it is literally on the truck, but something akin to the "above garage apartment" like is fairly common in certain areas of the country.

No problem. Hope it helps you decide what’s best for you.
So yes. In the black one in the middle of nowhere with the Ecoflow AC on, I can easily sleep till noon if left to my devices.
That said, there are constantly small people in my devices, so it generally doesn’t shake out that way.
I can’t comment on the middle ground olive one in terms of light penetration but the black works a little better with the Cybertruck motif anyway I think.
Overall, killer tent. Makes people jealous at every campground we go to. If it’s not dispersed camping, setup is always a bit of a social show.
That is one thing I will say, when you camp with an inflatable tent, a Cybertruck and a puppy, you’re not “low profile” or incognito AT ALL.
But that doesn’t bother you or you wouldn’t be driving this truck.
