Trade in Model S HW3 with FSD and move FSD to CyberTruck

i was able to transfer my fsd from my 22 m3p to the CT AWD. placed order last thursday.

Do you have a delivery date yet? I placed my order last Tuesday and am still waiting to hear.

You still have to deal with Tesla, it was the same work for trading to CarMax as it was to Tesla, CarMax had a much better offer, difference was bigger than buying FSD.

Well. That’s why you do your due diligence but in my case with the last CT that we definitely not the case. Tesla offered significantly more.

Thats good, I got hosed on my Model S, sold at the wrong time, but my CT reservation came up, two years earlier than predicted.

This was my experience. During the 2023 FSD transfer event...
We got this message when I asked if FSD transfered to the new car so we could sell the 2020 one.

FSD, in fact, was not "transferred". Our 2023 Model Y is, in fact, still sans FSD.

I transferred FSD and Supercharging from my Model X to a Model Y for my wife prior to my CT order, then sold her Model 3 for the CT. Both the X and 3 went to Carmax. Unless something has changed, you don't actually need to trade in to Tesla in order to transfer features.

That’s interesting. Was definitely not the case when we transferred free supercharging from our 2016 x to our 2024x. So how does the process work?

I did the transfer in Mar '24 to a new Y, they let me stack incentives, so it was $1k loyalty, $1k Cybertruck reservation discount, $1k for free interior color upgrade, FUSC transfer (my '16 X had non-transferable FUSC from a referral) and FSD transfer. Only requirement is that I keep the X for 48 hours after delivery of the Y to allow the features to be removed from my X. I took delivery on Friday morning and sold to Carmax on Sunday afternoon. It was all automatic through the app, selected my X as trade-in, opted to transfer FSD/FUSC, then declined the actual trade offer once I received it (they were $8k lower than Carmax offer). By the time I was removing the X from my account to sell it to Carmax, the FSD and free charging had already been removed from my vehicle options.

I was also told you could transfer FSD without a trade-in, you could even keep the car, you’d just lose FSD in that one and gain it in your new one. Trading it made the most sense for me though so I did.

That’s awesome. That would have been very hard with the monkeys that were managing our deal but I’m very happy to hear that’s possible. I stand corrected. They told us we had to trade it in to Tesla at the time. Expressly and unequivocally.
