Is there now or in the works a trailer that has a range extender battery built into it? I have to tow a Kawasaki 1000cc side by side from central PA to northern ME. It is going to be a lot of charge stops. I get a little more than half the range when I tow my trailer at a conservative speed. Anyone have similar towing range? Less? More?

No. As far as I know, there is no way to charge a Cybertruck while driving. So even if you had a trailer that carried a big battery or a generator, it wouldn't reduce the number of charge stops: you would still have to make a stop in order to charge from that big battery or generator. And in that case, you might as well stop at a Supercharger.

The only advantage to lugging a big battery or a generator around is that it would allow you to charge in remote areas, where there are no Superchargers or other charging infrastructure.

Tesla formerly planned a bed-mounted Cybertruck Range Extender that would provide power while driving, but it was canceled. A device like that would have to be tightly integrated with Tesla's hardware and software. It's unlikely that any other company could make that happen, unless they had Tesla's buy-in and cooperation. But there are no signs that Tesla is still interested.

Not exactly plug-n-play. 😁

What would be optimal would be a trailer that had a battery pack with motors on its wheels and regenerative charging, much like the Pebble, but man, the price point won't be pretty.

It's like we're in the 1980's with PCs. A generation from now, this will all be solved.

We will probably have to wait a while for practical battery-only solutions. However, we should see "Extended Range Electric Vehicles" (EREVs) with built-in ICE generators soon. The Ram 1500 REV pickup, with claimed 690 miles of range, is currently scheduled for 2026 availability. Then Ford and Scout are planning EREVs in 2027.

It seems unlikely that Tesla or Rivian, as EV-only manufacturers, would go the ICE generator route. Scout is EV-only, but they are also owned by VW, so they can easily source ICE engines.

Nothing for trailers that small. Pebble and Lightship offer RV trailers with batteries and powered axles to extend the range of the towing vehicle.

You might suggest it to some of the manufacturers of equipment and vehicle trailers since it would be helpful for recreational and commercial use.

I'm not seeing the problem. Likewise, i didn't see a problem with PCs in the 1980's. In fact, I was amazed what they could do, and how fast they could do it.

I wouldn't take a range extender trailer if it was given to me. I can't imagine anyone wanting to tow a range-extending trailer on a long road trip rather than plugging in for 20 minutes while they took a rest break from the open road every 2-3 hours of driving.

I don't know. people back then wanted PCs now we have to put up with a bought and paid for anti EV media blitz as well as the Ludites that dont want a new thing that is actually better. BTW when is the last time you've seen or ever seen a Tesla on TV or in the movies? "Oops let's reshoot that scene there was a Tesla that drove by".

a trailer you can actually use to haul on AND had a pack would be great. like my flatbed car hauler. We haul a light across the US and it kills mileage, were lucky to get 100 miles pulling it. just another 50 would be great.
