Hey guys,

In June I bought a Foundation Cyberbeast to get in on the deals.

I basically love the vehicle, with the exception of a few issues that service has worked on, fixed, or is scheduled to fix.

I've had the truck in for service twice now to fix issues I noticed at delivery or shortly after. So far they fixed: tonneau waterproofing, a front applique that was coming off, frunk alignment (sorta), the driver's cantrail, a cracked bed light.

I've asked them to fix a couple rattles that are driving me nuts, and they replaced the driver's side A-pillar plastic, but the rattle remains. I think it's actually the dash itself and some of the many clips there. I think it's coming from this part: https://service.tesla.com/docs/Cybe...UID-5DEA8399-CD2A-44E7-A64C-50F99006E229.html. I think I'm going to go into service mode and find the exact frequency of the sound system that make it rattle and let them know.

Does anyone else have any issues with this rattle?

Also, during the last service where they added the tonneau slat, it came back and I noticed a "dent" or "crease" on the driver's side (here https://service.tesla.com/docs/Cybe...UID-AF3B9226-EF22-45BE-894C-E01F86C43EB4.html). Is it possible that they dented this during the course of the tonneau service or did I just not notice this somehow from delivery? I've attached a couple picture trying to show the dents. It's not a huge deal, but now I feel like I can't stop looking at it.

I also found this clip on my truck after picking it up. Any idea what it's from?

Lastly, this is the alignment of my new driver's cantrail, is this "within spec" or should it be better aligned?

I really just want these last few things fixed and I'm tried of taking it to service! Thanks for any input.

Dent is not normal.
Cantraik alignment is terrible. Take to the regional manager for service.

This is not legal advice and you should contact an attorney: There is a thing called the consumer expectation test in product liability.
Tesla can say a flat tire is within spec. Doesn’t mean squat. What a reasonable consumer expects is what matters.

I guess I struggle with the dent because I can’t prove they did it, but I also think I would have noticed it…

How do I “take it to the service manager” lol

Ask your service advisor to speak with the service manager.
Alternatively on your messages in the Tesla app you should have received an automated post-service message from service with name and email addy of your local service manager and their one up who is the regional service director.

I think that 'dent' is a manufacturing artifact. My truck (20K VIN beast) has a slight ripple like that on both sides. I've seen it on other trucks as well. I don't know if it's from the original forming, or part of the assembly process, or what. But it's not just you.

Good to know I'm not alone here. Have you just left it alone? Mine is a ~39k VIN.

Any thoughts on the cantrail or rattle?

Once I saw the ripple on other trucks, I stopped worrying about it. I know how hard the stainless is to work with, and since I don't use it as a showpiece, and it regularly gets bashed on bushes and whatnot, it doesn't bother me. If I was taking it to car shows or something, I might ask the service center to try to address it - but you never know what you're going to get when the truck comes back out ... :)

As for the cantrails, I resisted taking mine in for a long time as they weren't loose. I finally relented, and the SC did such a crap job on the alignment of the replacements that I immediately sent pics via the app in the still-open service chat (I'd picked it up after the SC had closed) and complained. They had me bring it back in and realigned them to be better than they were from the factory. I think I just got an inexperienced tech the first time, but that's always a possibility when you take your truck in.

As far as rattles, the only one I have is an occasional one from the back of the front passenger seat. I think my dog's back-seat hammock has pulled the back of the seat cover loose or something. It'll occasionally rattle until I fully decline, recline, and then reposition the front seat. (I can recreate the rattle by pressing on the back of the front passenger seat) Someday I might get that looked at.

That looks similar to the clips that hold the beauty cover onto the windshield behind the rearview mirror, but I suppose similar clips are used throughout.

All CTs are a little "wavy" on the large, flat surfaces. Pick any truck on the lot, and go stand 30ft away at an oblique angle, it will be obvious. It's part of the charm.

HFS is really fucking hard (it's right there in the name). Creating any dent would require significant force, undoubtedly leaving a witness mark.

Agree about the stainless panel dent: highly doubt service did this (it'd have to take a major hit to dent it). The panels do have some waves as part of just how the panels are applied. Mine has something similar on the same driver side panel, and I brought it up at delivery but they said it's common. I only noticed it when I was looking at the panel at the right angle with the right lighting.

As for the rattling soudn in the dash, do a search on this site because I remember 2 people identified a rattle and, IIRC, the two different causes were:
  1. The plastic cover on the steering column (it's loose and should have a piece of foam on the bottom of it).
  2. Think another user said it was a clip in the dash or the plastic vent blade that was loose.
Both of the two above were resolved by the service center.

Thanks for the input. Maybe just a loose clip then. I see no evidence anything is loose.

I also thought there would be a mark or something if they dented it. Probably not worth worrying about then?

Thanks for the sanity check.

1. Both service visits they’ve actually addressed this rattle. This last one they added tape and made it a lot worse but only because they didn’t have the parts. It’s the cheapest feeling part of the whole car imo. They’re supposed to fix it (again) in a couple weeks…

2. I saw this thread actually, I think for me it sounds like more than one clip which led me to think it’s the entire piece and it’s loose clips. I’ll take a look again though.
