Just unplug the trailer connector from the truck if you are needing off-road capability while towing. If you are pulling a trailer in places where you actually need off-road settings, you likely wont need trailer lights and signals.

Perhaps they may. In the mean time, you can run high suspension under 25mph for 100ft, so might allow for getting through reasonable amounts of mud.

Maybe you would want to have the brakes?

Maybe. Seems like a funny thing to do though, to pull a heavy enough trailer requiring trailer brakes in a serious off road scenario. i suppose someone has probably done it, even it was unintended. :)

I might be seeing this wrong, but what happens if you start off in Off-road/Overland/High (roughly 12.7" clearance unlimited speed), then connect trailer. I'd assume at each stop after that, you'd get the "Exiting Off-road" pop up, and then you could select the option to stay in off-road mode.

Or maybe simply a loose gravel downhill with not that heavy of a trailer and you'd like a third axle braking as well.

Or you are indeed going at a relatively high rate and the trailer starts to fishtail.

I won't disagree that it is indeed a rare use case, but evidently that OP has an off-road trailer and likes to go into hard-to-reach areas and just wants the higher clearance.

I'd personally would rather travel in medium and if clearance was that much of a deal, handle it one-off. Staying in high just makes for a bumpy ride, in conditions where you least need it.
