Just ordered my first ever Tesla (2024 Cybertruck AWD) saw a unit for immediate pickup with -$8K price adjustment. Now Tesla is telling me i can only pickup the unit in 5-7 Days so they can fix the Cantrail.

First Time Tesla owner so any recommendations and suggestions prior to pickup would be great.

Why would the unit be discounted at -$8K ?
How bad is the phantom battery drain ? (As i dont drive everyday and car will be sitting not plugged in)
Any thing specific i should ask or look for at time of pickup ?

Made the switch from a 2023 BMW X3 M40

Located in the Miami Area

Thank You In Advance :)

Plan on a 30 day or 1,000 mile getting used to period. After that you will love it, if not before.
If you are in Miami, get it tinted.......or you will boil alive

I remember reading all those battery articles, etc, 6yrs ago when I got my Model 3. And, my recollection is that there are two issues: one, cathode cracking at 3.92V, and two, lithium plating.

I came to the conclusion there wasn't a whole lot I could do about lithium plating, which would only result in slower supercharging. But, I could try to mitigate cathode cracking, which occurs at 3.92V. I figured 3.92V would be about 63% SOC in my car, so I only charged up to 60% SOC for my daily commute. And, I would charge up to whatever level required for roadtripping, but try not to leave it static at high SOCs.

For my one datapoint, my car had 100% of its EPA-rated range of 310mi for 6 full yrs, before it used up the top buffer. Now, it shows about 95% of original.

I used to use Stats, until they forced everyone into a subscription. The API used to be temp-sensitive so that in Winter, the range estimate dropped:

From SMT, ScanMyTesla, which pulls the data off the OBDII reader. 71.7kWh out of the ~75kWh EPA amount.

Yes, I keep my CT at 60% for daily driving.
