Where was this rage bait article from....intensifies fears blah blah blah. Upgrades will come with HW5? Shocking.

HW3...they will figure something out or Tesla will give the money back. HW4 already does autonomy. This is not a concern for me. I completely zoned out last night on way home (actually on my phone). I noticed we were pulling into the driveway and realized...I could have been in the passenger seat no problem. Thats how my commute is now.

What do you mean?
Generally speaking, any IR is visible when viewed through a camera because their image sensors (CMOS/CCD) are inherently sensitive to infrared light. IR usually becomes visible as purple/magenta or white glow.
Am I missing something here?
Most digital cameras have infrared filters on top of the sensors to block much of the unwanted IR light. That's because cameras are designed to see the world the way humans see the world. Canon offers their DSLR's in two versions sometimes, because astrophotographers often don't want IR filters. Some users modify their DSLR by removing the integrated IR filter.

The raw digital output of FSD cameras are fed directly into the FSD computer with minimal image processing. It's all about signal to noise in low light so not having IR filters increases the low light sensitivity (partly because any filter will block a small amount of visible light too).

Dave constantly spews outright lies, and whines when people call him out.
Well its been a wild ride in a crazy rodeo and brief snapshots at one moment or another don't convey this universe well.

One thing I'm fairly certain of as I get driven down the road by 14.2.1 - other drivers do not realize the car next to them is driving itself. It's not obvious, because windows are rolled up.

In related news, I bought a traditional Irish flute a few months back and will have Grok teach me how to play. Soon as the hands free nag is rexaled a little more, of course.

Can't wait to see people gawking at me while riding down the Interstate at 80.

Agree. My definition of a "luxury vehicle" is one that drives me while I am not much more than a passenger in the "driver" seat. Only Tesla vehicles fit the definition. All thanks to FSD.

Yes, FSD is the heart and soul of the Tesla vehicles.

Many people, including many car journalists, might not fully understand how a game-changer the FSD is and how fast FSD is advancing everyday -- They still look at cars in the traditional way (mechanical parts,) but Tesla vehicles are much more than that with FSD.

No other cars can even come close to the latest Tesla FSD's ability to avoiding accidents and saving lives in complex scenarios (e.g. oncoming traffic.) I wouldn't put my family in any other cars, regardless how luxurious they are.

Did I also mention Crabwalk? this should be revisited by the team.
Of course CRABWALK should be a high priority, because...

BECAUSE IT'D BE COOL...

Seeing that bunch of triangles auto back into a parking spot doing sideways shifting crab style, yeah we need that.

Because those other people, the ones standing around, it's only right they see things they don't comprehend. Things that make them wonder if maybe there are a few things they don't actually know about how the world works

The funny thing is they really do not know that we are being driven around by these cars because the windows are almost always rolled up. An entire class of self driving vehicles is growing right in the middle of them and they are clueless.

The business serious people, some of them go to seminars on Time Management and are focused on being more Efficient Every Day. But they could free up two or three hours a day with FSD. Something sound wrong there?

Be careful what you wish for. I took a GMC Sierra for a test ride and the salesman put it in crab walk on the lot and then drove forward. He wiped the side of the truck on another truck's towing mirror and did $16k worth of damage. It's a very strange driving experience because the car isn't tracking where you are steering. You can be turning the truck steering one way, but with the rear also tracking the same way, you aren't going "around" the object next to you, instead you are going "into" the object. It's like you need to treat the side windows as the windshield, but the steering wheel action isn't doing what the human driver expects. I'm very good with parking trailers to within a half inch on the first pass but I find crab walk quite unnatural. It's so bad that the GMC version requires driver acknowledgement of the risk every time, and I don't think that's just lawyering - it's real. The salesman had lots of experience with it, still did major damage to two trucks on the dealership parking lot while demonstrating the function. And I don't think he's an idiot.

Great point. Maybe backing a trailer could be made a little easier if you can't swing your nose around while backing and you just need to make small adjustments to keep the boat trailer from falling off the side of that boat ramp.
